Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 454 V8 1971

Allgemeine Beschreibung : Description
This is the kind of muscle car that commands attention. It's a dialed-in bright red 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 hardtop coupe that features a thundering 454 big block growling from under the hood, a quick-shifting 4-speed manual that manages the power, and an all-day comfortable black interior inside. So, it has the look and the sound to turn heads, whether it's across local show field or just at a stoplight.
Cranberry Red with black SS stripes – you sure aren't sneaking around when you take this one out on the streets. But it takes more than just investing in upgraded and glossy paint to make a superior muscle car. Chevelles of this era have that perfectly balanced design of being both sleek and muscular at the same time, and there's nothing more beautiful than a classic that emphasizes both areas. Without an original build sheet it's always difficult to 100% verify real-deal SS authenticity, although this one has all the right components that are very hard to fake – dual fuel lines, boxed trailing arms, the heater hose location – so that preponderance of physical evidence certainly vaults this fine example over your rank-and-file Malibu that was slapped together with fake badges and gaudy stripe decals. Finished in the not-too-distant past, the paint is bright and shiny, and even though there are some minor imperfections to report, this Chevelle is definitely a driver-quality head-turner with killer curb appeal. The chrome bumpers look newer and are super bright, as is all of the requisite brightwork and trim, including the shiny wheel moldings and trim on the blacked-out SS grille. This bright red glitter is balanced by the aggressive elements like the painted-on SS stripes and the power bulge of the cowl induction hood, and the correct SS badging lets everyone know exactly whom they're tussling with. Panels and gaps are really good, and all the doors shut firmly with that steel authority you can only expect from classic American steel. The finish is deep and the bodywork is very solid, but this is no trailer queen meant to be seen and not heard, this Chevelle was built to get out and terrorize the neighborhood.
Inside, that same premium and aggressive feeling continues, starting with the dark as midnight interior. It's always great when the exterior stripes are a preview of the color inside, and the cabin of this Chevelle ties the entire look together. Plus, you get all the factory-correct bright accent touches to add a little pop to the interior. The split-bench seat up front and matching bench in the rear add great comfort to the big bruiser muscle car, and the tall Hurst shifter jutting out from the floorboard is topped with a cue-ball knob, practically begging the driver to hammer through the gears with wanton disregard to your neighborhood's HOA guidelines. Code 725 Dark Blue Rondel cloth is this Chevelle's original spec inside, so the restorers were right to upgrade the furnishings inside, with handsome and durable black vinyl/cloth seats and door panels that are matched perfectly by the headliner above and plush carpets below. The dash is free of cracks but shows enough patina to be thought as original, the SS door panels are all there too and are in similar shape, and the big SS steering wheel than anchors the cabin is still in place as well. Factory gauges ahead of the driver keep an eye on things under the hood, and enthusiasts will notice that the bezel is correct for an SS, and an auxiliary gauge was installed under the dash for better accuracy. An original Delco AM/FM radio is still in the dash, although it's due for an upgrade if you're looking for tunes, and we sincerely hope that any aftermarket stereo installed in the future would be neatly stashed away in the glove compartment to preserve this Chevelle's originality inside. Out back, the trunk shows off its solid pans and carries a full size spare and jack set in case of emergencies.
This is the kind of motor that will make you proud to lift the hood at car shows. After all, everyone loves the sight of a big block V8 filling in all that space between the satin-black inner fenders in the engine bay. The setup is tidy and clean with its bright Chevy Orange block, matching valve covers, and shining open-element air topper replete with big '454' decals. Topped with a big 4-barrel carburetor and performance intake the big motor breathes easy, and a growling Flowmaster dual exhaust fed from those thick long-tube headers sounds fantastic underneath. It's a true street-eating machine, but that's not the whole picture. The V8 has been treated to good maintenance like an upgraded ignition system, alternator, and big aluminum radiator up front keeping the motor nice and cool under any conditions, so it's more reliable than many other big blocks. Underneath is a presentation worthy of showing-off as well, with body-matched painted pans, satin black axles, and freshened components throughout showing off a life lived easy and away from harsh climate conditions. Plus, there's the always-exciting 4-speed manual managing all the power, along with power steering and power front disc brakes that work together to enhance the driver's experience each time. The correct SS-look is properly finished with SS mag wheels wrapped in 255/60/15 white-letter radials with plenty of grip.
Whether it's a true SS or not, this is a dialed-in driver-quality Chevelle that has the power and poise you demand. So, don't let this turn-key icon slip away, call today!
