Chevrolet El Camino SS 396 Tribute 396 V8 1987

Allgemeine Beschreibung : Description
You can get a pretty good idea of how nice this very impressive 1987 Chevrolet El Camino SS 396 Tribute is just from the photos. Monte Carlo-style front clip, a thundering 396 V8 big block under the cowl hood, and a comfortable A/C interior all-wrapped up in a bright red package. Even with everything it's got going for itself, it's still quite affordable and represents a massive bang for the buck, and the top quality and believed low mileage make it far more desirable than your average bargain-basement beater Elky. Take a closer look, but do so quickly, because hot classics with this kind of curb appeal never last long.
Let's start with the bodywork, which is laser straight and doesn't look anything like the beat-up old El Camino your gardener uses to haul tools. As a lifetime Southern car, it's quite clean, and you will definitely be impressed by the quality of the finish once you see the sheetmetal and livery in person. The bright red paint makes it look sleek and futuristic, and with the Monte Carlo front end, mild chin spoiler, and slight rake, it has a long, low look that works rather well. A paint-matched eggcrate grille, body-colored bumpers, and a cowl induction style hood scoop give this a distinctive profile and a custom rear roll pan out back blends the original taillights with a custom look. The bed doesn't look like it ever had to work for a living, and is as nice as the rest of the car thanks to the color-matched, lift-up tonneau cover that was installed to smooth out the look. The entire presentation is one that will have people thinking it should have cost a lot more than it does.
The interior holds up its end of the bargain, too, complements of a roomy and comfortable split-back bench seat that's upholstered in a handsome yet durable tan cloth material. The seat's in great shape, with a firmness that's still all-day supple, and the patterns and shade is matched on the flanking door panels, the insulated carpets, and taut headliner above. The wrap-around dash pad is clean and crack-free, with black accents toning things down a bit inside, making the cabin look rather luxurious inside. Well, for an El Camino, that is. Factory gauges include a tach and auxiliary units, which is what you'd expect in an SS, and there are a lot of options, including cold R134a A/C, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo, power windows and locks, and a tilt steering column that houses the original steering wheel. Simple, clean, and very comfortable, this Elky doesn't try to do too much, and that's exactly why it's a great place in which to spend some time.
But the real magic of this El Camino is underneath, where a powerful 396 big block V8 does its thing. Running strong and dressed for show, anyone would be proud to pop the hood and watch the onlookers gaze upon the components, from the bright chrome air cleaner and matching Chevrolet valve covers, to the polished Edelbrock intake and matching 4-barrel carburetor, or the bright red enamel on the engine itself. It's got plenty of giddy-up and is very torquey as well, more than enough to be a real handful on the street when the bed is empty or full. It all looks very tidy inside the all-red engine bay, and with lots of recent service items, including an R134a conversion for the A/C system, a serpentine belt system, and a chrome alternator, it's running great and should do so for quite some time. It runs smoothly and starts easily, and between that 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and the 10-bolt with friendly cruising gears inside, this El Camino combines the best of both worlds. Long-tube headers feed into a Borla X-pipe dual exhaust that sounds fantastic, while the power steering and power front disc brake options ensure a great ride quality every time out. Shiny American Racing Torque Thrust wheels finish the look with 235/60/15 white-letter performance radials so it sits just right.
The clean bodywork alone is enough to make you want to take this car home, and there's simply no way you could duplicate this El Camino for anywhere near the asking price. Call us today!
