Duncan, owner of Duncan Chevrolet out of Brady, Texas.  He bought it to be his personal vehicle and intended to keep it forever.  That is exactly what he did until his unfortunate passing in 1996 at which time he bequeathed it to his grandson.  The third owner who grew up in Brady Texas coveted this car as a boy, he fondly remembered Mr Duncan driving his cherished his cherished El Camino.  The State of Texas has issued a Certificate of History documenting authenticity and provenance.  The current owner purchased in 2016 with the objective of restoring as close to originally produced as possible.  After an exhaustive search, the current owner chose the prestigious shop of Mid Cities Classics.  The owner of Mid Cities Classics is Mr. Jim Welch, who specializes in the restoration of award winning GM cars and specifically Corvettes.  It is painted in the original single stage Cranberry Red #75 with the original two-tone lower Argent Silver trim.  The originality, the look and the feel of the paint is outstanding.  Every component on this vehicle was carefully researched to do it right.  That paint is then paired with a code C08 White vinyl top that was all replaced.  The level of documentation on this car is down to so many fine details that even small pieces of the original vinyl top were preserved as part of its history.  The chrome and stainless pieces are gorgeous and have a beautiful shine.  They are the original pieces that were individually restored by hand.  That shows what type of build this was.  They weren't just going to find some aftermarket off the shelf components or pull from a donor car.  If it was the original 1972 item off of this specific vehicle, they were going to restore it and keep it.  The only non stock components they took some liberty with was the slightly larger, but correct, Rallye wheels with new BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.  This was purely done for the aesthetic and improved stance.    Under the factory hood is the Turbo Jet 402 c.i. big block LS3 motor that was entirely rebuilt.  This is the correct numbers matching motor and what makes this 400 series very unique.  So many of these were converted to Super Sport clones that the big block 400 has actually become quite rare as there are so few still in their original form.  The level of detailing in the engine compartment is to such a degree that a novice might not even be able to appreciate it.  A perfectionist however would be amazed at everything that's going on.  From the GM hoses to the finish on the hood latch, it's all exactly how it should be.  It even has components you wouldn't expect to see like the emissions canister and the heat riser to the air cleaner.  These seem like relatively basic parts but once you make note of them you will start noticing their absence on all the other El Caminos out there.  So many of these little original features really set this thing apart.  It is truly an homage to originality and vintage vehicle design.  Even things like the original heater box were rebuilt to keep in place.  It is also a factory AC truck and has factory power brakes as well as factory power steering.  Mated to the motor is the original Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 Automatic transmission to transfer power back to the 12 bolt rear end.  It rides down the road extremely well.  It never gets driven in the rain and peaking underneath it looks like it was just finished yesterday.  The interior is the special order #720 Tan that was specifically requested by the original Chevrolet Dealer/Owner.  The upholstery, door panels, dash, carpet, etc is all in immaculate condition throughout.  The dash features all of its original components with everything functioning flawlessly.  In 2016 the mileage was 7,136 and today the mileage is 7,592. It is very rare to come across a vehicle of this caliber.  It belongs in a collection, museum, or space where someone can truly appreciate what it is.  The amount of hours, dollars, and love that went into its construction is unmatched by most collector vehicles out there.  It is a frequent award winner and has taken home the top awards at El Camino specific shows.  It comes with a lot of documentation including a breakdown of all the numbers (pictures can be provide on request), the original Protect-O-Plate, original warranty booklet, reproduced window sticker, and more.  It is a work of art! This would be a great addition to any collection for $68,500.00!
