Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle Convertible 540 V8 1969

Allgemeine Beschreibung : Description
When a car's been built right, you can tell just by looking at it. Given the pure muscle car presence on this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible, there's no question the fellas who built it did their homework. It's a big block car, packing a powerful 540 V8 engine mated to a quick-shifting automatic transmission, and features a great restoration that makes this vivid blue '69 Chevelle one of the coolest turnkey droptops we're currently featuring at Streetside Classics.
The Metallic Blue paint that covers this Chevy's sheetmetal is certainly more bright and vivid than anything the Bowtie Boys had in their repertoire in 1969, but we love how this particular high driver-quality finish makes a real statement today. With no stripes getting in the way, the blue paint does all the talking and emphasizes the gentle arc of the Chevelle sheetmetal, not to mention the natural street-brawler stance, and this car looks the part of an apex predator wearing sheep's clothing. It almost seems like it's had its skin stretched tight over its chassis, and the good overall fit of the panels and shiny paint are evidence that someone has always cared for this car. The work was done not long ago, and despite very minor evidence that it's been driven and used, it's very hard to complain about a bright blue big block A-body convertible at this price point, in this top driver-quality condition. We're especially pleased that it sports the requisite 'SS' badges fore and aft, a blacked-out grille up front, and a killer cowl hood that adds a bit more aggression to the overall slick appearance of this muscle car. And with shiny chrome pumpers and a white convertible top that goes down, this baby has all the ingredients to really turn heads both at the car show and out on the town.
Not being a full-blown verified SS doesn't mean the interior isn't a performance-oriented place to do business. With Ivory White vinyl buckets and a center console, it has a very sporty demeanor that's perfectly appropriate for the Chevelle Malibu, and all of it remains in really nice condition. The black-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel matches the plush carpets and dash, while the horseshoe shifter inside the console is easy to grab and is a trademark of late-60s GM A-bodies. A full complement of AutoMeter auxiliary gauges inside a custom bezel augment the factory setup, giving you a full view of the engine's goings-on, and because this is a radio-delete car, you'll hear her every wish up and down the throttle. A great-fitting power white convertible top with a glass rear window raises and lowers itself with a touch of a switch under the steering column, and one glance in the trunk should prove to you just how solid this muscle car really is, showing off solid pans and no signs of damage.
Huge horsepower is provided compliments of a monster 540 cubic inch V8 motor that has been outfitted with aluminum heads and properly dressed in bright Chevy Orange paint and lots of performance bling. Situated between the glossy black fender wells, it looks great, especially with dress-up items like the aluminum valve covers, open-element air cleaner, and performance intake manifold. Everything still manages to look more period performance than modern restomod, down to the Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and MSD coil, and the motor fires right up with ease and has a nice low rumble emitting from the longtube-headers feeding the H-pipe dual exhaust with chambered Magnaflow mufflers. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission manages the gears, twisting a heavy-duty rear end out back that can jump off the line and handle itself on the highway as well. It runs extremely well today, with loads of big block torque available at any speed and in any gear, delivering the punch that you expect from a big Chevelle like this. Power 4-wheel disc brakes provide sure, confident stops, and the sway bars front and rear and power steering system move the metal with relative ease, providing for a very comfortable driving experience. Someone definitely did their homework when it came time to stuff the wheel wells, because this one wears great-looking Rallye wheels and 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear Cooper Cobra white-letter radials.
With a quality restoration that generates serious attention everywhere it goes, this big block Chevy droptop is a great rendition of a timeless muscle car classic. Call now!
