Chevrolet Pick Up 496 V8 1990

Just Toys Classic Cars has some of the most diverse inventory around and here is one that is very special. Before you here is a 1990 Chevrolet 454 SS truck. This was not your run of the mill C1500 truck running up and down the street. This was Chevrolet's jump in to the horsepower truck market. Now we are not talking the kind of horsepower that we have today, but these trucks stock put out about 255 HP but you know what they say, you buy horsepower but you drive torque and boy do these put out some torque. Stock this truck put out 405 lb-ft of torque. Now that will put you in your seat.
Now, this truck may look stock, but oh is she a wolf in sheep's clothing. First of all the body on this truck is as straight as an arrow and for the age of the truck the black paint is in phenomenal shape. Let's face it, back in the day a lot of these trucks were still driven in the northern rust belt states and would rust out over time. Not this bad boy. As you will see in the pics, this baby is one solid truck.
To look at the interior is to take a step back in time. There is not a single thing in this cab that is not from the assembly line. All the way down to the massive looking AM/FM radio and the separate cassette unit off to the side. From the factory these trucks were born with the red interior you see and the cloth bucket seats and the center console. The only thing that Chevrolet added in in the next two years was a factory tachometer. So if you wanted one in 1990 you had to put an aftermarket unit in. This truck from tip to tail is just super clean.
Now, we all know that under the hood is what made these trucks what they were. However, what is under the hood of this street sleeper is far from stock. What sits there now is a 496 stroker motor that is putting out 528 HP and 668 whopping lb-ft of torque. Now this is what this truck was meant to have. This is all mated to a performance built MX1 4 speed automatic transmission to handle all of that power, and the 14 bolt rear end with posi and 3.73 gears. Good luck keeping rear tires on this one. For some odd reason they always seem to wear out faster than the front ones do. Not really sure how that works. There have just been a couple thousand break in miles put on the motor so the miles you see on the odometer are what was on the truck from birth.
Obviously all of that go needs some whoa mixed in there somewhere and that is done with power disc brakes up front and you do still have drums in the rear. It goes without saying that you have power steering as well in this truck and you have all of this power with cold a/c as well. The suspension has been professionally lowered with a drop/level kit for the stance this truck was born to have. Now this isn't just a straight line monster. The front end has DJM CalMax tubular control arms, and lowering shocks as well. This means that you can lay this baby in to a turn and not get tons of flex and body roll and make it stick.
