BUILT FOR SHOW
This slick hardtop's detailed, ground-up restoration, completed by PRK Automotive of Mesa, Arizona, was applied to what appears to be a solid, damage-free body. That body's panels were stripped, sanded and massaged into a great-looking profile. Once that profile was correctly aligned, its vast surfaces were lit to life with a killer combination of black and red 2-stage. That pigment was highlighted with a truckload of fresh trim, which includes factory mirrors, factory bumper guards, electric headlight doors and modern 'HEMI' emblems. And the result is one straight, fully sorted pavement pounder that inspires comments and elicits stares every time it hits the road!
BUILT TO GO
Toss the car's billet-trimmed hood and you'll find a stalwart, 6.1 liter Hemi that's a delightfully refined take on old school Motor City muscle! That smooth-spinning mill, spiced with elements like a custom oil pan, polished air tubes, custom shrouds and an aluminum radiator, twists thrust to a proven Tremec 5-speed that's dressed in a steel bellhousing. That tough transmission spins a familiar 8.75-inch axle that's wrapped around 3.55 gears and a quality Sure Grip differential. That drivetrain rides a massaged double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension, which utilizes tubular control arms, a tubular crossmember and four QA-1 coil-overs to provide a killer stance. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are provided by big Wilwood calipers, which squeeze a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Ceramic-coated long-tube headers flood large-diameter pipes, which center an X-shaped crossover in front of buff Magnaflow mufflers and polished stainless tips. Torque meets the pavement through chromed Rocket Boosters, which spin 245/40ZR17 Hankook Ventus in front of 275/40ZR18 Hankook Ventus. And the car's solid, undercoated floors are paralleled by sturdy Hotchkis subframe connectors.
BUILT TO DRIVE
Pop this Dodge's tight-fitting doors and you'll find a tastefully customized interior that's attractive without being overbearing. Modern bucket seats join a factory bench in wearing tight leather that's bound by color-keyed French stitching. In front of those mitts, a custom dash frames Dakota Digital telemetry and modern Pioneer audio that's complete with navigation. At the base of that dash, a custom console founds a Hurst Pistol Grip Shifter in front of LED-lit cupholders. Those components are framed by a tight headliner, custom door panels and premium carpet that's protected by Charger-themed floor mats. The driver spins a polished and leather-wrapped steering wheel around metal foot pedals and a tilting column. And this classic stays cool both figuratively and literally thanks to modern air conditioning.
