Ford Coupe 1936

Allgemeine Beschreibung : FACT: Ford street rods are awesome.
That's a tenet virtually every car enthusiast believes in. But, as we all know, there's always room for improvement. That's where cars like this striking coupe come into the picture. In fact, that's pretty much the definition of the phrase 'hot rodding'-- taking already cool classics and thoughtfully modifying them into head turning creations that provide unique driving experiences. Combining 383 cubic inches of stroked small block with a massaged chassis and decidedly handsome aesthetics, this fully sorted cruiser draws big crowds and big compliments. And if you're one of the many enthusiasts looking for a turn-key ride that's both classy and fun, it's your ticket to car guy nirvana!
SHARP DRESSED CUSTOM
The fact that Wilkes County car culture produces amazing hot rods should come as no surprise to anyone who's familiar with The Old North State. After all, this is one of the communities that pioneered North Carolina's beloved legacy of badfast customs that were used for both motorsports competition and, well, 'expedited transportation of spirited goods'. More recently, it's an area that has tirelessly and successfully worked to resurrect one of NASCAR's most legendary short tracks. Crisp, clean and old school mean, this all-steel Ford is the product of a detailed, professional build that was completed by Miller Brothers Hot Rod Barn of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. That steel, stripped bare during the car's frame-off restoration, looks especially good under a glossy coat of GM Autumn Maple two-stage. And that perennial pigment highlights solid panels that center great alignment under bright reflections and clean surfaces.
Lasting allure kicks off with a whittled steel hood, which props an ornate 'Ford V8' topper on a painted and stainless-trimmed grille that's centered between streamlined headlights and polished horn guards. Those lights reflect a polished bumper that bends around sinuous, all-steel fenders. Stainless trim spears lead traditional doors that, thanks to traditional handles, shade all-steel running boards. Opposite those boards, billet hot rod mirrors pierce a smoked greenhouse that's cleared by a polished wiper. That glass, which includes a roll-down backlite and titling windscreen, frames a padded roof above a traditional decklid and frenched tag frame. And all-steel quarters fashion small LED taillights above a second polished bumper.
RIDGERUNNER MUSCLE
Ford's legendary Flathead V8 is fine power for original Model 48s, but this custom isn't your typical old school roller. Fold the flaps and you'll find 383 cubic inches of hot Chevrolet small block that's been polished, rebuilt and lovingly sorted. A Lokar-controlled Holley 4-barrel gets aired by a body-matched Billet Specialties cleaner, which rides opposite a polished Edelbrock intake. At the perimeter of that intake, painted Billet Specialties valve covers tilt polished breathers over iron heads and sculpted Sanderson headers. A hot Flame-Thrower distributor shoots spark through loomed Taylor plug wires. Billet pulleys spin a polished alternator and a polished AC compressor at the sides of a choice solid lifter cam. A beefy aluminum radiator pairs a stylized cap with a large electric pusher fan. And, despite being a thoroughly massaged piece, the Autumn Maple mill looks right at home in the car's mirrored engine compartment.
STYLE AND SUBSTANCE
At the ground, power flows through a cooled Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed, which twists a Truetrac 9-inch that was sourced directly from the pros at Taylorsville, North Carolina's L P Gear. That drivetrain rolls in a carefully upgraded chassis, which leads traditional leaf springs with a Mustang II-style front-clip. Modern rack-and-pinion steering plays well with modern Aldan coil-overs. Stops are provided by a quartet of power-assisted calipers. The aforementioned headers funnel spent gases through large-diameter pipes, which hang electronic cutouts in front of polished MagnaFlow mufflers. And at the corners, $9,000 worth of Schott Accelerators carry 205/40R17 front and 245/45ZR19 rear Michelin Pilot Sports.
SHARP STITCHED CUSTOM
Dressed in four hides of stylish Saddle leather, this 5-window's tasteful interior is both tailored and taut. $14K worth of custom stitching that was performed by the fine folks at Corryton, Tennessee's Kirk's Kustom Upholstery, that cozy cockpit kicks off with a broad TEA's Design bench that sails clean Daytona Carpet. A custom, burl-look dash hangs bright AutoMeter telemetry above Vintage Air climate control. A short console centers a long Lokar shifter behind a modern Kenwood head unit that jolts a Rockford Fosgate amp, a Rockford Fosgate sub and Rockford Fosgate speakers. Suede-tinged side panels front modern power windows with cool, Western-themed map pockets. The driver spins a polished and half-wrapped steering wheel around a polished, tilting column. And the car's battery and subwoofer have been cleverly disguised in retro chic luggage that dots custom-upholstered cargo holds.
It doesn't take Oxford's Guide to Gearheads to understand the appeal of this sweet coupe. In fact, we can sum it up in one sentence: An attractive, fully sorted street rod that's unique in all the right ways! Life is just too short to drive something boring.
