The early '30s marked quite a bit of change for Ford. While their Model A had proven to be a worthy and popular successor to the groundbreaking Model T, the competition surrounding the A was growing fierce, so Ford realized they had to do something big. Their solution would resonate with all of us . . . create a new line altogether that offered V8 options for more power. Stylishly flashy with a matching trailer going along with it, this 1933 Ford Vicky carries on the big displacement tradition of their efforts and has the additional distinction of being the only Ford offered at the time that carried a V8, and no other engine options, inside its engine compartment.
With its pearl white and purple metallic body ornamented with flames down its sides, this coupe isn't likely to get lost in a crowd anytime soon. As ornate as it is, it has the shine to match, glowing like a multi-colored diamond in the sunlight. You can't help but notice how revolutionary this '33 had to have seemed - with its flowing fenders, generously sized running boards and ornate front grille. While many cars of the day were growing ever larger in size, this version held on to a relatively compact wheelbase, giving it a substantial, sturdy look. There are some great details in play here, including the subtle modification that provides its inclined aggressive stance, as well as the rendition of Betty Boop that graces its rear deck lid. Its detailed paint job is effectively ornamented by the clean chrome of that front grille, as well as the straight front and rear bumpers.

This Ford's drivetrain is configured to provide plenty of power while sidestepping the temperamental nature and hassles that often come with an overly modded drivetrain. The 350-cubic inch V8 sitting underneath the substantial hood carries a 4-barrel on top and is in good form - starting right up and running with all the smoothness you're looking for in a frequent driver. Echoing that road-ready theme, the powerplant is paired with a 700r4 4-speed transmission that provides good gearing for off the line acceleration, along with overdrive for low RPMs on the highway. This inspired Ford classic sits on a set of Rev wheels - 17" in front and a full 20" in back to add to its aggressive, forward leaning stance - outfitted with Venezia Crusade tires in front and Delinte tires in back.
