Land Rover Range Rover Classic (0) 1974

Allgemeine Beschreibung : An icon, the mother of all SUV’s. The plans for the Range Rover were as simple as they were effective: make a car that is at ease on rough terrain like a Land Rover and as equally at home at a night at the opera. Mother Land Rover saw a growing American market in terrain vehicles that also had good road manners and decided to through its hat in the ring. That the Range Rover did not sacrifice any of its off-road qualities is nicely exemplified by our 1977 car. In an earlier life it did duty as an observation vehicle for a south German fire service. The big advantage of using such a car as a base for restoration is that it usually has been meticulously maintained, has low mileage and has often been garaged. Our car ticks all three boxes and is therefore was the perfect candidate to create a top quality Classic Range Rover. The clock has still to reach the 37,000 km mark. But that was not the only redeeming feature. The vehicle has been very thoroughly tackled with a brilliant result, in other words; it could not be in any better shape. After it arrived in the Netherlands it was completely taken apart. Before going to the sprayers all little panelwork blemishes were sorted out and the now straight car was taken back to bare metal and received a white coat on the in and outside. Both bodywork and paintwork are thus in excellent condition. All the panelwork is nice and thin and correctly aligned. The well executed paint job has is in lovely condition. Not only is she externally in lovely shape. The interior has been re-upholstered with light brown cloth. The rigorous approach to the work is in evidence in the series of photos detailing the work on the seats. The frames were taken back to bare metal and re-upholstered to a high standard. The matching carpets are neatly fitted and in a perfect state. Overall it gives this Range Rover a pleasant luxurious air that measures up nicely in the current car world. The door cards and head lining were also replaced. But what would a nice external makeover be without similar attention to the car’s mechanical aspects? The low mileage has meant that the car can easily do without being taken apart mechanically. The fact that the add-ons were all fine did not withhold the previous owner from checking or replacing nearly every add-on. The engine has had a deep clean and re-painted leaving us with a brilliant engine space. The transmission and diff gaskets were all replaced as well as a completely new exhaust system. To enhance the modern roadholding feel new Michelin tyres and a full new suspension were fitted. This Range Rover drives perfectly and you get the feeling you could easily drive all the way to Cape Town in utter comfort as long as you kept her fuel tank topped up. Furthermore as you may expect from a new 43 year old car, all controls and instruments work perfectly, the doors close securely and all rubbers are in perfect condition. The restoration and overhaul work has been extensively recorded with photos and invoices contained in the accompanying file. If you feel that a modern Range Rover is too high tech and you are looking for a car that can compete with a new one; look no further as this is the car for you!

Akt 2: Series Land Rover (1950er-1970er)
