Model History
Lotus began delivering the Esprit in 1976 and the final examples of the 10,500 units built didn't roll out of the production halls until 28 years later in 2003. Its extreme, yet classical and timeless wedge shape was based on design proposals by Giorgetto Giugiaro and didn't undergo a major facelift until 1988. The low vehicle height of just 1.12 metres is also extreme and makes it appear incredibly fast, even when stationary. Most Esprits were fitted with 4-cylinder engines with a 2.0 or 2.2-litre displacement but from 1996, the Esprit GT could also be ordered with the newly developed 3.5-litre twin-turbo ‘Type 918’ V8. The engine was detuned from a potential 500hp to 350hp and has proved to be durable and reliable. This car has real supercar performance, sprinting from 0-60 in just over four seconds and powering on to a top speed of 175 mph.

Exterior
This Storm Titanium V8 Esprit presents in fantastic condition. The paintwork has a deep glossy shine with hardly any imperfections other than a couple of very light stone chips to the front end and one small chip on the edge of the driver’s door. The rubber seals around the windows and doors are all immaculate and free from any perishing, all of the lights are without any chips or cracks, and there are only a couple of very small chips to the windscreen.

Interior
The Esprit’s cockpit is in lovely order. The leather bucket seats remain soft and supple with only the tiniest amount of wear to the edge of the driver’s bolster. The dashboard and centre console are also in extremely good condition with no marks to the hand-stitched leather. The Momo steering wheel looks great and the only other addition being a more recent Pioneer Bluetooth head unit. The carpets are all immaculate and are well protected by a set of tailored ‘V8’ overmats, the door cards are also very clean, with only a couple of small scuffs to note on the driver’s armrest. The car has just come back from a full service and everything works as it should.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
It’s clear from reading the history file that this Esprit has always been well maintained, most recently benefitting from a full service in June 2022. Other notable recent works include new engine and gearbox mounts, a replacement clutch and slave cylinder, turbo unit refurbishment, a new catalytic converter and O2 sensors. Opening the rear lid reveals an immaculate engine compartment; the carpeted luggage area is also pristine with no damage or wear.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Each of the six-spoke alloy wheels are immaculate and free from any curb marks or corrosion; they are all the shod in a recently fitted set of Falken tyres. The brake discs and pads are also fairly recent and have plenty of meat left on the bone.
History File
This is an extremely well looked after example with 15 stamps in the original service book, the last service having only very recently been carried out in June 2022. There is also a file full of service and maintenance invoices, old MOT certificates, and the V5C registration document confirming six previous keepers.
