Packard Custom Eight Inline 8 cylinder 1936

Allgemeine Beschreibung : 1936 Packard 120 Coupe The Packard marquee may have been short lived but they were one of the earliest in the automobile industry dating back to 1899.  Then in the mid 50s they merged with Studebaker and the Packard name was no more.  That being said they graced the market with some of the coolest old luxury cars out there.  You don't see a lot of these cars still running down the road so it is always neat to get to list one like the 36 Coupe you see here.  This car belongs to a collector that has a number of award winning Packards and to be honest it is surprising that this one is being put out for sale.  Out of the Packards in the collection this one is often number one on the list of their best driver.  Not only that but it is in excellent condition.  It was brought into the collection after being purchased from another Packard collector in California.  The body of the car is very solid and rust free.  It is painted in a nice Maroon paint that has a slick finish.  It features all of the original chrome and trim accents plus has the dual side mounts which just add to that vintage 30s luxury appearance.  Without a doubt one of the coolest features on this classic is found on the rear deck.  Typically when you say rumble seat it is safe to assume you are going to have to share storage space with a seat in the back.  Well this classic was one of the last years for the rumble seat and in addition has a separate trunk section.  It is a really cool unique combo that you just don't see very often.  The car rides on original style spoke Packard wheels which are wrapped with wide white wall tires.  Mechanically the car has just recently been gone through.  The inline 8 cylinder motor is period correct, stock and runs well.  It was tuned up recently and other work includes new brakes, new wheel cylinders, new brake linings, new brakes lines, a new emergency brake cable, new front wheel bearings, a new water pump, new thermostat, rebuilt generator, new starter and carburetor rebuilt.  Prior to the work it was purchased from another well known Packard collector here in Texas.  To insure it always cranks up well the car has been fitted with two parallel 6 volt Optima batteries.  The engine is combined with the stock 3 speed manual transmission that moves through the gears smoothly.    The interior of the car is done in Beige leather and looks great.  They did a great job of adding a bit more modern luxury with the upholstery work while still maintained a somewhat stock look.  The dash is fitted with all of the original components and everything is working well.  This is a pretty straight forward car that is in beautiful condition throughout.  If you are looking for a unique 30s vehicle but want something a bit different this is definitely one to check out.  Plus, it is set up to be able to be driven and it does that very well. This clean piece of automotive history could be yours for $38,995.00!
