Plymouth Roadrunner SRT-8 1969

Allgemeine Beschreibung : Let's face it, as much as we love the muscle cars of old, the advancements in technology that are available in a vehicle today are nice and handy: Bluetooth, Cruise Control, climate control and literal decades of safety advancements. But what if you could have both? Is there a way of combining the incredible look of yesteryear with all the technology of a modern day vehicle? Instead of performing a standard resto-mod on a solid '69 Road Runner, West Coast Classic decided to make this particular Road Runner set the bar for all future resto-mods by seamlessly combining it with a 2008 Charger SRT8.
How would that even work, you ask? Well, the team purchased a used '08 Charger SRT8, stripped it down to bare chassis, made a few tweaks and capped everything with a restored Road Runner body. The result is a 1969 Hemi Road Runner like you have never seen before! Thanks to a 6.1 liter 3G Hemi that cranks out 425 horsepower, taut leather upholstery and extensive work to both its body and chassis, this Road Runner is a true modern day muscle car.
THE SHELL OF '69
Unlike most of its counterparts, the Road Runner doesn't look so much muscular' it looks indestructible! The product of an extensive and unique build, this Plymouth's paint is first rate, displaying a level of depth that factory sprayed cars simply can't compete with. The color itself is made up of six coats of Lotus Calypso Red, which is shot over impressively straight AMD panels. And it all adds up to a classic that makes a great first impression, with great panel fitment that displays even gaps all around.
3G HEMI
Lift the silver-trimmed hood and you'll find 6.1 liters of SRT8 Hemi that cranks out a stout 425 horses at 6200 RPMs. Given that impressive power output you'd be surprised to learn that, if you can tame your right foot, the engine will be good for nearly 20MPG on the highway. At the top of the famous Hemi Orange block, a tall intake shoves a careful mixture of air and fuel in to factory heads. As you would expect, the build is first rate in execution and detail. And cool items like an aftermarket radiator shroud, a familiar Coyote Duster decal and a vivid Road Runner horn dress up Chrysler's clean, corporate aesthetics.
A MATCH MADE IN FABRICATION
Not surprisingly, the bottom of this rowdy Road Runner resto-mod has been carefully transitioned to 100% Charger. Throw the car on a lift and you'll see a 2008 Charger SRT8 chassis that West Coast Classic cut in half, narrowed four inches and shortened four inches. That process was extremely extensive and, when finished, the team discovered they had used over 50 pounds of welding wire to perfectly tailor chassis to body. Included in the tailoring were upgrades like an independent front suspension, power rack-and-pinion steering, a five-link rear suspension and Brembo 4-wheel power disc brakes with ABS. The Hemi shuffles shifts through a 5-speed AutoStick automatic. Spent gases growl through large-diameter pipes, which center polished Magnaflow mufflers in front of polished Magnaflow tips. And at the corners of the car, 20-inch American Racing wheels are wrapped in 245/35ZR20 Nitto Invos and 295/35ZR20 Nitto Invos.
MODERN WHERE IT COUNTS
Open the doors and you'll find a clean leather interior that's all twenty first century comfort. Power front bucket seats seem surreal when combined with the awesome view over that gorgeous '69 Road Runner hood. A leather-wrapped steering wheel laps a tilting column, which toggles under silver-face telemetry. At the driver's right hand, a snazzy Pistol Grip Shifter complements dual-zone climate control and 6.5-inch touchscreen audio that controls DVD-based navigation and SiriusXM radio. That interface jolts a 13-speaker Kicker sound system that features a 200-watt subwoofer and a 322-watt amplifier. And custom side panels look great over premium carpet that's protected by Hemi-themed floor mats.
It simply doesn't get much better than this awesome Road Runner resto-mod! Mixing a solid 425 horsepower with modern convenience and timeless looks, this classic certainly won't reflect our showroom lights for very long. Don't miss the chance to add it to your collection!
