1977 was the year Smokey and the Bandit was released, so it seems like the ideal time to have a black and gold T/A. The Starlight Black was applied later in life, and so it retains a nice gloss in the sunshine. All the gold pinstriping and accents are complete and looking good, too. It follows all the main lines of the car, including around the fender flares, windows, and accents the beak-like front end to really make this Firebird look like it's flying down the highway. Inside the same color theme continues. After all, the tan interior goes nicely with the exterior gold, and some of your favorite pieces are finished in black – like the sports steering wheel. This is a comfortable place to spend some time with the high-back bucket seats, a tilt steering column, and an armrest center console. They even upgraded it to be comfier for modern times with features like an AM/FM/CD stereo w/aux input and ice-cold R134a air conditioning. But this coupe is more than just a coddler, and you know that the moment you spot the machine-turned dash with full gauge package, including the cool tach/clock combo.
With 400 cubic-inches under the hood, you'll find very few people willing to call the big V8's block color "baby" blue. This is a year-correct powerplant, and it has been dressed up for show with bright valve covers and that factory shaker looking crisp. The V8 inhales deeply with a the four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with authority out of those bright dual pipes underneath both sides of the rear bumper. Features like power steering and the three-speed automatic transmission make this classic easy to drive in town. And the front disc brakes and sway bars front & rear make this a blast out in the country, too.
