Allmän beskrivning : Alfa Romeo 2000 Touring Spider 1960 for sale
The Alfa Romeo 2000 Touring Spider is a true 60's Grand Touring car. And some people say it was the last of the great Alfas from this period.
Exterior: The car had a small revision in 1987 and then received the white coat of paint it bears today. It still looks good even though its age is showing in some places. Most of the chrome parts appear to be original and still look good. Also, the soft top is the very first from 1960 and it is still ok. The wheels were sandblasted and repainted in 2019, and then fitted with a set of new hubcaps. The time period correct Michelin tyres were still in good condition and fitted again. The 2000 Touring Spider is visually the better-looking car with the small hood scoops, the chrome side trim and divided front bumper. There is no rust to be seen, but some smaller imperfections in the paint.
Interior: Also, here most of it is original. The rubber mats in trunk still with the Alfa Romeo logo. A new carpet ordered in original specification from Italy was installed April 2020 and at the same time the leather on the seats where replaced. All instruments are working and there is still the original radio and speaker fitted. When the top is down, there is a convertible cover. On the pictures you can see the original factory hardtop that this car was delivered with from new. The hardtop where recently repainted and the inside is all original and in very good condition.
Engine: The engine has just been rebuilt in 2019 and has covered less than 500km since. It was fitted with new bearings, piston ring and the head was rebuilt with new valves, valve guides and valve seats. In May 2019 a new exhaust system was installed. New clutch cylinder and the brakes have been looked over. Gearbox and final drive have normal functions. The complete rebuild of the engine is close to 10,000€ and comes with all the receipts for parts and labour. It was performed by a Swedish Alfa Romeo Specialist on classic cars.
History: This Alfa Romeo 2000 Touring Spider was sold new in Sweden in 1960-06-08 to an architect in Lund. The second owner Arne Berg in Svedala got the car in 1970 and when he passed away in the summer of 2018, I bought the car. I took it through mandatory Technical Control here in Sweden 2019-06-05 and it passed with no remarks. Some old pictures from 80's when the car was cleaned underneath and then rust protected are present and also the first and original registration document for the car. I also wrote to Alfa Romeo classic division and got a certificate that verifies this 1960 Alfa Romeo was first delivered to Sweden in 1960 and the original colour was white, and it still has the same engine it had when it was delivered in 1960. There is also a lot of older inspection documents collected in a binder that indicate that the total travel of this car is no more than 109,000km from new.
