Allmän beskrivning : Alfa Romeo 1300 Giulietta Spider Passo Corto '57 750D This Alfa Romeo Spider series 1, was built in 1957 intended for the American market. First registration in the US in 1958. The car is matching numbers. Very rare. It was completely restored by order of the current owner. The restoration was documented by means of an extensive photo reportage. The car was inspected and registered in Belgium and used after restoration (almost no traces of use). This Alfa Romeo is very well restored in very good condition and ready for use Description of the model During its long existence, Alfa Romeo has always offered sports models, ranging from small bombs with a modest displacement to a six-cylinder with a Ferrari engine half in front. Pininfarina creates a beautiful design, with its small grille typical of the brand and a sublime profile. By the early 1950s, Alfa Romeo looked little like its pre-war self. Ferocious engines and body-on-frame designs were on their way out; they were replaced by an advanced twin-camshaft four-cylinder and the brand's first forays into monocoque construction. But despite a push towards the mainstream, which was necessitated by a changed economic climate in Europe, Alfa Romeo continued to possess the same spirit that had led it to numerous Grand Prix victories prior to World War II. Alfa Romeo's new line-up for small cars came to much fanfare in 1954 with the introduction of the stately Giulietta Sprint coupe. The following year, a sedan, or berlina, version debuted. But the automotive world shook to its foundations a few months later, when the Pinin Farina-designed Giulietta spider was unveiled in mid-1955. Styled by Pinin Farina, the attractive spider was built on a slightly shorter wheelbase. The Italian brand's Twin Cam four-cylinder in-line engine was downsized to 1.3 liters for the 750 series Giulietta and used a alloy cylinder block and Solex carburetor. The Giulietta spider would eventually be replaced by the Giulia spider, although the name change was not accompanied by a complete redesign. As a result, the basic look of the spider persisted for almost a decade before being replaced by the Duetto - a tribute to the work of Pinin Farina.With the typical Pinin Farina "radio-delete" plate, the red wool carpet is with instant immersion in the luxury and elegance of welleer. The combination of a "rev-happy" engine, fine handling, a responsive chassis and good brakes made the spider a driver's car par excellence - perhaps superior in driving dynamics compared to its primary competitors, Porsche's 356 convertible and Speedster.
