Donald Healey is a man who holds an important place in the history of the British automobile and the sports car in particular. Donald Healey was a successful rally driver. He won, among others, the "Coupe des Alpes" and the "Rally de Monte Carlo". After a professional career at Triumph, Donald Healey started building sports cars himself. In 1952, Healey bought the rights to the "Austin 100" and "Austin Healey" was born. In 1956, the “Austin Healey 100/6” was born. The first Austin with a 6-cylinder engine which was allowed to replace the “Austin Healey/4”, with a four-cylinder engine. The 100/6 was roomier than the 100/4 because the car was given a longer wheelbase than the 100/4. The powerful 6 cylinder from BMC (British Motor Corporation Limited) was linked to a four-speed gearbox and overdrive. In 1959, the 100/6 was succeeded by the "Healey 3000". What the buyer of an “Austin-Healey 100/6” does not have to worry about at all is the availability of parts. There are many suppliers of British parts brands and almost everything is available new!
