This 1965 Chevrolet C10 carries plenty of mid-'60s vintage vibe via its great looking exterior that combines with a smooth running modern drivetrain to make it as well suited for frequent driving as it is for performing as a worthy contender on the local car show circuit.
There isn't much chance that you'll pull up to any cruise night or other classic car function to find any of the other rides sporting the same shade as this truck does. Known as Dark Carmine, it's a show-stopping rendition of deep dark red that looks especially good in this setting, with its very clean condition and a metallic shine that really comes alive in the sun. It was applied only a couple of years back, so it's still at its best. The entirety of the exterior shows a lot of attention to detail - shiny, unblemished chrome bumpers are in place in both front and back, the front grille and headlight casings show no signs of having been exposed to the elements and clear glass with fresh rubber seals surrounds the cabin. The body alignment on this classic truck is very much up to par, allowing its doors and hood to open and shut smoothly. This is one well-turned out vintage pickup.
There's a lot to like inside the doors. The interior is laid out nicely, featuring a tan bench seat with burgundy accents that's very comfortable and blends perfectly with the door panels to each side, as do the well-prepped steel surfaces surrounding it, all of which have been painted to match the exterior. Fresh burgundy carpeting also lines the floor. A Super Sport badged steering wheel sits on the stock column in a nod to this truck's Chevy lineage, while just beyond it, the dash area has been refurbished and retains its factory configuration, with the original factory gauges still in the instrument cluster, joined by aftermarket counterparts and a column-mounted tach to more accurately monitor vital engine functions. An underdash air conditioning unit has been added to keep you and your passengers comfortable. The AM radio sitting at the center of the dash is there to lend an era-correct vintage look - there's a Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo mounted to the left of the steering column that does the heavy lifting as far as audio is concerned. In back, the bed area is in great shape, featuring wood planks that are in optimum condition between chrome strips. The inner wheel houses and interior walls have been treated with liner to protect them from the elements.
While its clean, well detailed appearance may suggest that the main purpose of this '65 is to attract crowds, it's very well-equipped to handle the challenges of frequent driving. A 350 cubic inch turn-key crate engine rests in its engine bay with just about 2,000 miles on it, offering a full 385 horsepower and runs as smooth as you could want. The V8 combines with a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive for low-revving highway driving, while a 3.73 ratio Eaton rear end with posi-traction brings all that power to the pavement with surefootedness, aided by a deluxe traction bar. An array of new components up this vintage pickup's dependability factor, including a new wiring harness, new u-joints and new bushings in much of the suspension. An aluminum radiator, teaming with an electric fan, has also been added to keep temperatures down in more demanding conditions. With both power steering and power brakes on hand, this very sharp Chevy navigates with ease and stops promptly on its set of 20" Liquid Metal chrome rims wrapped with Nitto Motivo tires.
