It's got the vibe, resonant sound and a handful of well-executed modifications you'd normally see on a street rod, but with the self-assured, rock steady look of a work truck. No doubt about it - pull up in this 1972 Chevrolet C10 and you'll get plenty of admiring glances from onlookers positioning themselves ever closer to get an earful of its unmistakable, rumbling big block power while they gain an ever-increasing appreciation for its magnetic appearance.
This stout, road ready truck now wears a coat of very sharp Aqua blue paint on its exterior. It's been very nicely applied - the color is very even from front to back and a strong shine will follow you as you take a lap around to get a better look. As you do, you'll notice that the exterior alignment on this '72 is very much on point - its body panels line up and blend well with each other. With the exception of the signature Chevy bowtie on the front grille, the badging has been deleted, which really allows the paint to take center stage. The ultra-aggressive looking air cleaner peering out over the hood gives fellow motorists and onlookers alike a pretty good idea that there's some serious power just below and in this case, it's no idle assertion. The glass surrounding the cabin, as well as the rubber seals in place to keep the elements from intruding, are both in very good shape.
Open one of the doors, and you'll see an interior that looks appealingly fresh, with a nicely padded, very comfortable bench seat and door panels to each side whose newer condition would indicate they were recent additions. Just beyond the steering wheel, the dash area retains its original configuration down to its chrome accented instrument panel and original gauges, which team up with a trio of aftermarket counterparts, as well as a nicely sized tachometer, to keep an accurate read on vital engine functions. At the center, an AM/FM/CD stereo with iPod connectivity joins the mix so you won't run out of audio options any time soon. Just below, the unmistakable sight of the Hurst shifter adds another custom touch to the interior. The bed area is protected by a liner whose complementary blue color is a nice alternative to the more commonly encountered black, and it's in blemish free condition, indicating that no shifting cargo has been allowed to extract its toll.
Just as that air cleaner elevating above the hood would signify, there's plenty of power on hand here in the form of a 454 cubic inch V8. While its displacement alone makes it a very capable performer to begin with, it also sports an aftermarket cam, as well as a pair of 4-barrel carbs sitting on top of an Edelbrock Hi Rise tunnel intake manifold to take things to an even higher level. The engine has just the robust, throaty rumble you'd want in a setup like this as it exhales into its pair of long tube headers and teams with a 3-speed automatic transmission that's shifting smoothly and securely. Power brakes that feature discs up front provide prompt, low effort stops, while power steering make this great looking pickup an easy navigator as it hits the road on its set of show stopping 20" Billet Specialties wheels outfitted with brand new low profile tires. A look below reveals an undercarriage that looks nice and solid.
