And don't forget that the Landau model was its own body style that was more expensive and rarer than the standard coupe. And we also know you love this for the 3rd-gen T-bird's distinct design. It's a detail-oriented look where the chrome front end is a cohesive piece with the grille/bumper meets the hood at a decisive tip. The door handles are integrated into the side trim, and you even have fender skirts to make the sides look extra-sleek. And it all ends in taillights that look like a jet fighter's afterburners. So you want one that is complete as this example, right down to the correct wheel covers.
The two-tone black and gray interior makes for an attractively cohesive look with the colors of the exterior. And we especially like the seats. Not only does everyone get individual-style bolstering (including the rear) but also they have a clean and fresh look, right down to the Thunderbird logos in the seatbacks. And the wood-like trim that flows from the doors, onto the dash, and then down to the console is a terrific classic luxury touch. The factory steering wheel has an artful design, and the round gauges have an elegant look with each in their own pod. There are comfort features such as power windows (rear ones may need servicing.) There is room for improvement on this car. You may want to redo the lower door panels, update the vinyl top, or convert the factory air conditioning to get it blowing cold again. But the value price means you get a complete and sharp coupe today, and it leaves room in the budget to give you the choice for how and when you want to add your personal touch.
Under the hood is plenty of proper Ford power. The 390 cubic-inch V8 is believed to be original to the car, but you can also see some nice investments in keeping it looking good. The bold blue block, shining pewter air grabber, and matching Thunderbird valve covers really make this stand out. And the way this one fires up readily verifies proper maintenance. The four-barrel carburetor on top means the V8 inhales deeply to let this cruiser hit the town with ease. This nice driving attitude also comes from the Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes.
