By 1974 the GTO had moved away from the LeMans line but you wouldn't know it on this one. It's a real-deal Sports Coupe model, and this generation of A-body Pontiacs is arguably one of the most attractive designs around. The Colonnade roof has really come into its own on the classic market, and the trunk has a sleek slope that doesn't stop until it reaches the chrome bumper. This makes the most out of this style with a never application of slick red paint. Plus, it really gets the details right with everything from the louvered rear windows to the polished Rally II wheels.
Opening the door to a white interior instantly gives you a feeling of premium. It only gets better on a button-top design. While the door panels and headliner also are a bright white, the black carpeting means you never have to dust your shoes off before going for a drive. Wide benches mean seating for up to six, but any time you want individual luxury, you can fold down the center armrest. This one gives you more great feelings of period-correct premium with the wood applique on the door panels, dash, and steering wheel. Even the AM/FM 8-track is still on display to feel like a true time machine. The 455 cubic-inch V8 was the largest motor Pontiac was offering at the time. This one has been upgraded to surpass that with a block that now displaces 463ci. It looks absolutely fantastic in the engine bay as the shiny air topper and valve covers have their details painted blue to match Pontiac's famous engine block color. But more than just show-worthy, this huge displacement V8 has been fortified and enhanced with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer Pontiac aluminum intake, Edelbrock aluminum heads, steel-braded hoses, and headers that add even more power as they contribute to the rumble of the Flowmaster H-pipe dual exhaust. So the big V8 fires up with gusto. Plus, the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc brakes, means you can easily show it off everywhere.
