Die Geschichte des Alfa Romeo Montreal dürfen wir als bekannt voraussetzen. Ein legendäres Spitzenmodell einer ebenso legendären Marke. Der damalige Neupreis betrug DM 35.000. Es ist hinlänglich bekannt, dass Alfa Romeo bei jedem der gebauten 3.917 Exemplare draufgelegt hat.
Rost galt als der größte Feind dieser raren Kleinserie. Umso wichtiger ist die Tatsache, dass es sich bei diesem unrestauriertem Fahrzeug um ein Exemplar in einem außergewöhnlichem Originalzustand (Classic Data 1-) handelt. Dieses Fahrzeug wurde am Silvestertag 1972 fertiggestellt, am 20. März 1973 an den Schweizer Vertragshändler in Agno geliefert, der es im Frühjahr 1974 an den Gründer und Vorstand des Schweizer Montreal-Clubs und gleichzeitig Gründer des europäischen Montreal-Zentralregisters, Herrn Schalbetter, als Neuwagen lieferte. Herr Schalbetter hat das Fahrzeug bis zu seinem Tod im Jahre 2001 besessen. Selbstredend, dass er es in perfektem Pflegezustand erhielt. Gleiches gilt für seine Nachfolger. Die Historie ist lückenlos belegt.
Die Gesamtlaufleistung beträgt 98.500 km. Das Fahrzeug hat keinerlei Service- oder Reparaturstau. Die Wartung wurde durch den in Montreal-Kreisen für seinen Hang zur Perfektion bekannten Herrn Bürgi in der Schweiz durchgeführt. Das gilt auch für die mechanische SPICA-Einspritzanlage. Aufgrund einer defekten Wasserpumpe wurde im Jahre 2014 der Originalmotor gleich komplett überholt. Rechnungen liegen vor.
Zusammenfassend dürfen wir davon ausgehen, dass es sich sicherlich um eines der besten und interessantesten Montreal-Fahrzeuge weltweit handelt.
