General description : A 1973 Alfa Romeo 1600 Junior Zagato. This is the rare and popular 1600cc version out of the Zagato series of which only 402 were ever produced! This particular 1600 Zagato was built in November of 1973 and is therefore one of very last ones. Originally sold in Rome,Italy. In 1989 a German collector bought the car. Midway through 2015 it was sold to its third and and final owner , a well-known Dutch Alfa Romeo collector and enthusiast. This is quite an original example with some parts of the bodywork still in the prime finish! The floor and underbody are still original and have never been welded or replaced. Furthermore the bodywork is straight, rust-free with correctly aligned body panels. It has nice black upholstery, that was renewed in the past, and the carpets are still original! It has the correct Zagato/GTA wheels and sterring wheel fitted. Mechanically 500 km ago the engine and gearbox were rebuilt by a renowned Alfa Romeo specialist (invoice available). About Alfa Romeo Zagato
Alfa Romeo has had a longstanding partnership with Zagato, an Italian coachbuilder known for its unique and striking designs. Here's an overview of the Alfa Romeo Zagato models, their production history, and their status in the classic car market today:

1. Collaboration: Alfa Romeo and Zagato have collaborated on several models over the years, creating limited-edition cars with exclusive designs. These collaborations aimed to combine Alfa Romeo's performance and engineering prowess with Zagato's distinctive styling.

2. Sprint Zagato: One of the notable Alfa Romeo Zagato models is the Sprint Zagato, which was produced in the 1950s and 1960s. The Sprint Zagato featured lightweight aluminum bodywork and a powerful engine, making it a desirable choice for racing enthusiasts.

3. Junior Zagato: Another notable model is the Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato, which was introduced in the early 1970s. The Junior Zagato featured a compact design, aerodynamic styling, and a two-seater configuration. It was aimed at providing a sporty and stylish driving experience for younger buyers.

4. SZ/RZ Zagato: In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Alfa Romeo and Zagato collaborated again to produce the SZ (Sprint Zagato) and RZ (Roadster Zagato) models. These cars featured bold and angular designs, distinctive rear-end treatments, and high-performance engines. They are considered modern classics and are sought after by collectors.

5. Classic Car Market: Alfa Romeo Zagato models, especially those from the past few decades, have gained recognition and appreciation in the classic car market. Their limited production numbers, unique styling, and association with prestigious Italian brands make them highly desirable among enthusiasts and collectors.

6. Rarity and Exclusivity: The limited production runs of Alfa Romeo Zagato models contribute to their exclusivity, which, in turn, can increase their value in the classic car market. Well-preserved examples with documented histories and original specifications tend to command higher prices.

7. Design Legacy: Zagato's distinctive design language, characterized by bold lines, muscular shapes, and aerodynamic elements, has left a lasting impact on Alfa Romeo's lineup. Elements of Zagato's design influence can be seen in modern Alfa Romeo models, continuing the legacy of this collaboration.

Overall, Alfa Romeo Zagato models hold a special place in the classic car market. Their unique designs, limited production numbers, and association with prestigious Italian brands contribute to their desirability and collector appeal. These cars represent a blend of Italian performance, craftsmanship, and exclusive styling, making them highly sought after by enthusiasts looking for a distinctive and rare classic car ownership experience.
