Austin-Healey 3000 MK3 Overdrive Matching numbers and colours, 3 owners from new, r 1966

General description : `66 Austin Healey 3000 MK3, Phase 2 with overdrive and rare BJ8 hardtop. Produced between the 25-28th November 1966 it was imported by Joe Egle Motor Imports to the States where it was sold to its 1st owner in January of `67. After 2 years the car was sold to a Mr Gash on the 18th February `69 who kept the car until his death 22 years later with 30,000 miles on the clock. The car was sold to its 3rd and final owner in 1992 after it had been bought by a Mr Frazer, a local classic car dealer and sold on to another dealer in Des Moines, Iowa. The car was exported to Antwerp in Belgium, where despite its low mileage underwent a full bare-metal/ body-off restoration and mechanical revision process at 32,000 miles. The whole process has been well documented with many photos and invoices. The result of all this work is a fine car with perfect bodywork, all elements fitting snugly, gleaming chrome details and a lovely lacquer finish. This certified car has a 23-year-old logbook detailing petrol consumption, distances driven and accompanying invoices. It also has a matching numbers engine. It has a British Racing Green finish with black trim and black soft-top as well as the Healey Warwick BJ8 Works hard-top with the correct clips, Healey logo`s, roof lining and air-inlet. The car has a number of factory fitted accessories such as; chrome wire wheels, O/D, heating, adjustable steering column and black tonneau cover. This is truly a very special Healy with a nice provenance and documentation tracing its journey since day one!

About Austin-Healey
Austin-Healey was a British sports car make created as a joint-venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and the Donald Healey Motor Company.

First Healey model, Healey 100, was based on Austin A90 Atlantic mechanicals and developed by Donald Healey to be build in-house. They finished a single Healey Hundred for the 1952 London Motor Show. Leonard Lord, managing director of Austin was so impressed by the design that a deal was duly struck with Healey and the car was renamed the Austin-Healey 100 overnight. Austin Healey was born. 100 derived into 100-six, and different 3000 versions before they quit the production in 1968 as the basic design had finally become obsolete.
