Austin-Healey 3000 in red over black. 1960

General description : Austin Healey 3000 1960

I can still recall the first time I saw an Austin Healey 3000. My interest for classic cars had just begun. I was living in Vancouver Canada driving a Fiat 124 Spider. When I was about to cross the street and it was standing there waiting for the light to turn green. I could not believe what I saw. It was just drop-dead gorgeous and the design was just perfect and that sound when it took off! I was trying so hard to read the name on the badge, but it was just too long. I later found one, but at that time I was not able to afford it. My love for Austin Healey cars has remained, and I still think it is exceptionally pretty with a nice clean design. This particular car has an outstanding paintwork quality and the colours are striking. Chrome is very good and the Austin Healey 3000 is rolling on chrome spoke wheels fitted with Vredestein Classic tyres. All of the panels have a perfect fit. Trunk, hood and doors close neatly.

Interior: All instruments are just beautiful and working as they should. The BT7 offers a small backseat for the kids or the dog. Lovely black leather with red piping. The soft-top is practically new and in the best possible quality. The Austin Healey 3000 original side screens are in their original bag in the trunk when you need to go for long tours in bad weather.

Engine: Austin Healey 3000 engine is a robust unit that some say is a truck engine from the beginning. I do not know if that is true or not, but it is a very robust engine that through the small exhaust pipes gives a fantastic tune. The engine had a complete overhaul not many kilometers ago. It is now broken in and works wonderfully. Some of the common bugs on the 3l engine were sorted out during the rebuild such as a high quality crankshaft seal. The engine is correct and the same as when the car was delivered in 1963.

For sale: Austin Healey 3000 with a lot of work done.

History: This Austin Healey 3000 from 1960 was sold new in USA. During 2012-2017, the car was taken into pieces for a major restoration. The work includes the following.

After this work done, the car has travelled approximately 3000 km and is now a very dependable classic touring car in a wonderful condition. These cars are now more than 60 years old. If they have not gone through a thorough restoration like this car has, they will probably need to do so, even if they look shiny on the outside. Here is a stunning car with all the hard work done and ready to enjoy. Today with German papers and can be registered anywhere in EU with ease.

About Austin-Healey
Austin-Healey was a British sports car make created as a joint-venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and the Donald Healey Motor Company.

First Healey model, Healey 100, was based on Austin A90 Atlantic mechanicals and developed by Donald Healey to be build in-house. They finished a single Healey Hundred for the 1952 London Motor Show. Leonard Lord, managing director of Austin was so impressed by the design that a deal was duly struck with Healey and the car was renamed the Austin-Healey 100 overnight. Austin Healey was born. 100 derived into 100-six, and different 3000 versions before they quit the production in 1968 as the basic design had finally become obsolete.
