Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon 1963

General description : Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1963 Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon For Sale.
This smart example of a Standard Steel is finished in the most desirable colours being Tudor over Shell Grey.
The interior is one of the most comfortable places you could settle yourself, the graceful quality entombs you making it a struggle to step out of the car. Finished in a pale blue leather with matching pale blue carpets and a well finished, heavily burred vaneer running throughout.
Originally supplied by Mann Egerton & Co to Mr A Williams of Cheltenham and recently having work carried out by the likes of Frank Dales and RR&B garages, recent works have include a complete gearbox and brake overhaul.
In our showroom and ready for viewing.
In 1962, Rolls-Royce's new V8 engine appeared in improved form in the Bentley S3 and Silver Cloud III, incorporating larger carburettors, a new distributor and raised compression ratio. Maximum power (traditionally undisclosed, as ever) went up by approximately 7%, which translated into a top speed of 115mph and a 0-60mph time a fraction under 11 seconds.
There were many other changes made to the S3/Cloud III, the most obvious being the adoption of a four-headlamp lighting arrangement, the absence of sidelights from the wing tops, and a bonnet that sloped down to a slightly lower radiator shell.
The result of these styling revisions was a car generally regarded as the most handsome of all the 'standard steel' types. Inside, the new models featured revised accommodation with separate front seats and increased room for rear passengers. The last mainstream Bentley to employ a separate chassis, the S3 remained in production until superseded by the unitary construction T-Series in late 1965.

About Bentley
Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.

Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930

In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
