In 1962, Rolls-Royce's new V8 engine appeared in improved form in the Bentley S3 and Silver Cloud III, incorporating larger carburettors, a new distributor and raised compression ratio. Maximum power (traditionally undisclosed, as ever) went up by approximately 7%, which translated into a top speed of 115mph and a 0-60mph time a fraction under 11 seconds.
There were many other changes made to the S3/Cloud III, the most obvious being the adoption of a four-headlamp lighting arrangement, the absence of sidelights from the wing tops, and a bonnet that sloped down to a slightly lower radiator shell.
The result of these styling revisions was a car generally regarded as the most handsome of all the 'standard steel' types. Inside, the new models featured revised accommodation with separate front seats and increased room for rear passengers. The last mainstream Bentley to employ a separate chassis, the S3 remained in production until superseded by the unitary construction T-Series in late 1965.
This charming example was first ordered by Mr A.P.D Hunt who specifically ordered that the car came with a completely forward folding back seat. He was a keen salmon fisherman and wanted to make sure that his rods would fit in the back.

The exterior is offered in the same shade of blue as Keith Richards famous “Blue Lena” and still holds a high level of sheen. The chromework is all in good condition and brightens up the exterior look.

The interior is beautifully original and proof that Connolly leather really is the best in the world. There is hardly any signs of wear on the leather, the woodwork is also in great condition. Safety belts have been fitted to the front and year.

Thanks to thorough maintenance she really does run and drive brilliantly, the 6.75 litre engine does not skip a beat as she pulls you along the road effortlessly.

In our showrooms and ready for viewing.

About Bentley
Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.

Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930

In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
