Chevrolet Biscayne V-8 Big Block 4A $62,000 1961

General description : This 1961 Chevrolet Biscayne is for sale in our Houston showroom. For one year only, in 1961, the Biscaynes sported the infamous FlatTop roof. What made the FlatTop more special was that it was not available on the Impala or the Belaire lines, making these sought-after by custom car builders. This Biscayne received a full frame-off restoration, including countless man-hours being spent on just the gorgeous show-quality paintwork that adorns its HUGE (and perfectly straight) original body panels! The custom (and subtle) White over Columbia Blue color scheme really make it special, and pops in any light. Its show-quality, period correct interior is extremely comfortable and more than large enough for the whole family. Under the hood of this Ultimate Sleeper is Chevy’s Ultimate Big Block: a recently built 427 CID V-8 with LS6 heads on it making a stout 600+ HP. This magic 427 sends its spent hydrocarbons through a great sounding Custom Stainless Steel Magnaflow side exit exhaust system. Keeping the big block beast cooled sufficiently for daily driving is its custom built Radiator and XL Derale electric fan setup. She's driving that power through a custom prepped, built TCI 700R4 transmission, controlled by a B&M electronic controller. The rear end wasn't left untouched, as it needs to be able to transfer that twist without breaking, so it has Heavy Duty strange axles and PosiTrac rear end with 3.73 gears. This Biscayne is a true Driver! This big car slows down using its Race inspired brake system, with Wilwood 6 piston calipers grabbing its two-piece 14" drilled and slotted rotors up front, and corresponding Wilwood 4 piston calipers snaring the 12" drilled and slotted rear rotors. It stops better than a modern day sports car! Don't assume this is a straight line-only car - you can zip through the twisties pretty hard on its built Hotchkis-equipped suspension. With the perfect stance in the front and super smooth AirRide system in the rear, it has no problem tucking its custom Billet Specialties Mags within the wheel wells. Using a True staggered setup, with specially built and etched Billet Specialties wheels made specifically for this car (20" x 12" rear / 18" x 9" front) wrapped in BFGoodrich rubber, this car has the right look for sure. A true cruiser that was built for, and should be, driven daily! Options on the car include; power brakes, power steering, vinyl & cloth interior, seat belts, additional gauge clusters, all exterior blubs have been changed to LED including the headlights, custom wheels, & more. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
