Chevrolet Corvette C1 Very original, rare ducktail model 1961

General description : The C1 Corvette is an American icon. This 1961 white Chevrolet Corvette C1 is fitted with the equally iconic “smallblock" V8 engine. This Corvette's V8 delivers 230Hp through a 4-speed manual gearbox. The 1961 Corvette was the first version to feature the four round taillights. Ever since this design feature has figured in every Corvette. The '61 Corvette’s are nicknamed “duck tail” and are particularly popular with collectors. The synthetic bodywork is in a good and original condition with correct alignment. The paintwork is neat with some signs of use here and there. The chassis is also still very neat. The red vinyl interior trim is fully original and in good condition. Mechanically the corvette has been well maintained. Documentation shows that the clutch was replaced together with many engine gaskets in March 2019. The engine is still the same original one it had when it left the St. Louis 59 years ago. This Corvette has matching numbers. The duck tail Corvette’s only had a 2 year production run and have therefore become very rare and very attractive for collectors. In short this is a very neatly presented Corvette with well maintained mechanics. Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975! About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
