Exterior

Finished in timeless metallic silver this lovely UK right-hand drive CX strikes a stunning pose against our studio backdrop. The paintwork presents to a good standard all round with a great shine, uniform colour, and only a few small blemishes to evidence the car’s age. Looking along both sides all the panels are straight and true, and there’s no bubbling to report around the arches. The bumpers are also very well presented with an excellent shine to the chrome and no major wear to the rubbers. The headlamps are crystal clear and the side rubbing strips – a Pallas-specific extra – are perfect. A seemingly rare find in such impressive condition, this low mileage CX will undoubtedly be turning heads this summer.

Interior

Bright, stylish, and extremely comfortable – the CX’s interior is a wonderful place to be. The blue velour seats are immaculately presented front and rear with no stains, discolouration or signs of heavy use. The vibrant hue extends to the unmarked door cards, deep pile carpets and velvet-like lower dash. The cabin is lifted further with a space age instrument cluster and single spoke steering wheel really adding to the sense of occasion. All the switchgear still feels reassuringly solid to operate and even a period Radiomobile cassette deck remains in place.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The engine bay presents in great shape, not overly dressed but in excellent original condition with no signs of accident damage or previous poor repair. Having just returned from a full vehicle health check the mechanics of the car are in fine fettle, and it’s an absolute joy to drive. The engine is incredibly smooth on test and the manual box feels tight and precise to operate.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The CX sits on its original 14-inch steels with the correct Pallas chrome trims, all in fine condition with a mirror-shine throughout. The tyres have ample tread left and the brakes (discs all round) remain in fine operational condition, bringing the car to a halt quickly and in a straight line.

History File

Supplied new by California Autocenter (Birmingham) in July 1976, this rare example has now driven just 67k miles in the hands of only 5 registered keepers. Within the accompanying History File the original Citroën document wallet, owner’s manual, service booklet, and dealer-stamped sales brochure are present along with a number of old MOT certificates and various maintenance invoices. The original dealer number plates and a box of spare parts are also included with the car.

About Citroen
French industrialist André Citroën had been building arms for the French army during WWI by the end of the war he was left with great industrial facilities but no product for the post war market.

In 1919 he founded Citroen that became the first mass-production car company outside the USA[3] and a pioneer of the modern marketing as well as factory backed services network. Mind you, even Eiffel Tower served as a billboard for Citroën from 1925 to 1934 -Mon Dieu, monsier!

Soon Citroën earned a reputation for innovation and revolutionary engineering. Staying true to their slogan "Créative Technologie" Citroën has many "firsts" under their belt:

Europe’s first all-steel-bodied car, the B10 In 1934.

The world's first mass-produced front-wheel drive car,Traction Avant, (also one of the first cars to feature a monocoque-type body)

The world's first hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension system, introduced with the revolutionary Citroën DS / ID models in 1955, as well as the first production car with disc brakes.

Swiveling headlights in 1967, and finally variable assist power steering in 1970

With Citroën purchasing Maserati in 1968 a door opened for a high speed GT-model that would compete with Ferrari, Aston Martin et. al, when introduced Citroen SM was the world's fastest fwd-car.
