Dodge Dart 505 Keith Black Hemi 1968

General description : Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to offer a beautifully built SuperStock style 1968 Dodge Dart HEMI. This car was lovingly built with street ability in mind, but to be an absolute beast. The Dart runs a de-tuned race engine which in its current set up can be safely driven on pump gas with 5 lbs of boost making about 650 RWHP. With a few slight adjustments the drive train can easily handle 1,000+ horsepower. Under the hood you'll find a 505 CID Keith Black stage 3 all aluminum HEMI. The internals include KB billet crankshaft, BME aluminum rods, JE pistons, DLI rockers, and Donovan gear drive. The engine is a retired race engine that was designed and built by Dick Landy. The heads are raised exhaust port blower heads and it has a mild solid roller cam. Sitting on top of this monster is a 10/71 BDS blower and two 950 CFM Holleys. It exhales through custom made ceramic coated headers and 3.5" dual exhaust. The engine is backed by a 727 automatic transmission with fully automatic valve body. It runs to an 8 & 3/4 rear end with 3.91 sure grip and studded axles. The rear suspension set up features Cal-Tracs, monos, and Rancho shocks. The fuel system features a 20 gallon fuel cell with sump for the in-tank A-1000 fuel pump. The body started as a solid southern car which was stripped to bare metal on a rotisserie. To stiffen things up, torque boxes were added to the corners, and frame connectors were fitted to the floor. All the hoses and cables were fitted in the frame rails for protection and for a clean look underneath. The wheel and tire package was custom ordered to fit the wheel wells so the inner structure did not need to be altered. The paint finish is a super slick Mercedes silver which has been lovingly applied to the laser straight body. The interior features low-back bucket seats finished in black vinyl. The driver's seat features shoulder harnesses and the interior is surrounded by a custom fabricated roll cage. The cage does not have full door bars so entering/exiting is not too difficult. The original gauges are fully functional and a few additional auto-meter gauges have been added under dash. The entire built has less than 250 miles since being completed and is ready to be shown, driven, and appreciated. About Dodge
Dodge Brothers Company, founded by Horace and John Dodge in 1900, initially produced components for car manufacturers. In 1914 they stepped into car manufacturing when introducing four-cylinder Dodge Model 30 with all-steel body and 12v electric system.

By 1920 Dodge had become the second biggest car manufacturer in the USA, unfortunately the same year both of the brothers died, the company in turn to was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928. Dodge found a niche Chrysler Corporation lineup above low-priced Plymouth and medium-priced DeSoto, but somewhat below the top-of-the-line Chrysler
