Edsel Other first series with rare 'Teletouch' automatic gearb 1958

General description : We have a rare delight; a 1958 Edsel Bermuda. This car only had a one-year production run in 1958. Edsel Bryant Ford, the son of Henry Ford and the president of the Ford Motor Company, started the Edsel brand. The Bermuda represented the highest level of trim available within the Edsel brand for a station wagon. In addition to the deluxe interior appointments, the Bermuda was also fitted out with simulated wood panels and frames, a hallmark of premium Ford and Mercury station wagons. The Bermuda came in six and nine-passenger configurations. Our one is a six-passenger car of which only 1,456 were ever produced. The `58 Edsels had unique boomerang-shaped taillights. The shape of these taillights caused a problem when used as indicators, from a distance the right taillight appeared to have an arrow pointing to the left and on the left an arrow pointing to the right. This configuration was dropped on later models. All station wagons shared the Edsel Ranger`s 361 cu in (5.9) engine. This car has the rare ‘Teletouch’ automatic transmission. The automatic drive selection buttons being placed in the steering hub. This car was restored and mechanically overhauled in the past and is in a well-maintained condition. The paintwork is very neat and the body panels are good. The colour scheme is lovely, especially with all that gorgeous chrome. We do not see many of these unique American station wagons; which is not surprising as they were only in production for a year! About Edsel
The Edsel automobile marque was manufactured by the Ford Motor Company from 1958 to 1960.

Edsel was aimed to compete against General Motors and Chrysler and close the gap between itself and GM in the domestic market.

However, Edsel turned into a complete commercial disaster and Ford lost $350 million in the venture -equivalent of $2,831,563,927 in 2014 dollars.
