Der Facel Vega ist ein typischer Vertreter der eleganten Grand Tourisme Reise Coupes der 50/60er Jahre. Es ist ein Erfolgsmodell des französischen Herstellers Facel S.A. Der HK 500 bildet die letzte Evolutionsstufe des mit einem 5,9 Liter Chrysler 8 Zylinder Motors üppig motorisierten Coupés. Der Name „HK 500“ steht dabei für Horse Power im Verhältnis zu Kilogramm, wobei jedes PS weniger als 5 Kg bewegen muss. Das Ergebnis war ein von den Journalisten und Rennfahrer Paul Frére gefahrene Geschwindigkeit von 237 km/h, bestätigt vom Belgischen Automobilclub, womit der HK 500 zur absoluten Spitze gehörte. Das wusste ein ilusterer Kundenkreis zu schätzen zu dem u.a. Sterling Moss, Maurice Trintignant, der Schah von Persien, Hassan II von Marokko, Tony Curtis und Ava Gardner gehörten. Der exorbitante Preis schreckte diese Klientel nicht. Dieses elegante Fahrzeug ist ein sehr spätes Exemplar, das am 19. Aug. 1960 an die Firma Facel INC., New York City geliefert wurde. Die umfangreiche Ausstattung beinhaltete bereits das effektive Dreigang-Automatikgetriebe, Scheibenbremsen an allen 4 Rädern, eine Servolenkung und eine elektr. Anlage mit 12 Volt. Besonders elegant wirkt die Farbkombination in blaumet. mit der cognacfarbenen Lederausstattung, die neben den Sitzen auch die Türverkleidungen und den Dachhimmel sowie den werksseitigen Koffersatz und Chrom Speichenräder umfasst. Viele liebevolle Details zeichnen die Karosse aus. Eine Besonderheit ist das im Design von Burr Walnuss gestaltete Armaturenbrett, das tatsächlich aus Aluminium besteht. Nach einem Zwischenaufenthalt in England, wo das Fahrzeug auch liebevoll und fachgerecht restauriert wurde und seinen heutigen sehr überzeugenden Qualitätsstandart erhielt, hat es seinen Weg wieder auf den europäischen Kontinent gefunden.
