Ford Fairlane 1966

General description : Ford's fabled Fairlanes have always been some of the coolest and most popular classics around, and the comfort and ability provided by the pro-touring resto-mod movement really puts the icing on the cake. But this hardtop… Well, it's on a different level. Complementing everything great about timeless Detroit muscle with thoughtful customization and excellent power, this Ford is an extremely desirable take on one of the most popular muscle cars ever created!
APPROPRIATELY BLUE
The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration, this slick Ford wraps traditional Acapulco Blue 2-stage around retro stampings that are both solid and crisp. At the front of the car, a stylish, black-trimmed grille hangs a monochromatic crest between stacked headlights and a smoothed bumper that's stretched between amber parking lamps. Behind that grille, a pinned Crites R-Code 427 Hood leads factory-tint glass that's seated under polished wipers, bright drip rails and straight frames. At the sides of that hood, a stainless-trimmed profile plants retro 'FAIRLANE 500' scripts behind polished mirrors, traditional door handles and subtle callouts to the car's hot Dart 427. And at the back of that profile, dynamic taillights illuminate a second smoothed bumper, which reflects integrated Red Tail exhaust tips and snazzy Fairlane 500 trunk trim.
ABOUT THOSE CALLOUTS
Hoist the fiberglass hood and you'll find an iron Dart small block that builds on the car's theme of tailored performance. Professionally assembled by Keith Craft Performance Engines of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, that monster mill turns 427 cubic inches of Ford bore into 402 rear-wheel horsepower! At the top of the buff engine, polished Borla stacks utilize FAST XFI 2.0 fuel management to charge 60mm EV1 injectors. Those jets feed aluminum Air Flow Research 225 heads that are dressed in attractive C. Cook Enterprises valve covers. At the front of those heads, a bright MSD Blaster 2 coil jolts an MSD Pro-Billet distributor, which sequences MSD 6AL spark through loomed Taylor plug wires. Behind those wires, coated Ford Powertrain Applications long-tubes make easy work of spent gases. At the front of those tubes, a March serpentine drive spins a billet alternator opposite a billet power steering pump. Cooling comes courtesy of a Griffin 4-core radiator, which is finished with polished tubes and two electric puller fans. And first-rate detailing, like trick dipsticks, a vintage washer bag, a deep-sump oil pan and an Optima gel cell battery, rounds out a very impressive engine display.
SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON MOD
While the idea of making an old car as good as or better than a new car might seem a bit optimistic, the pro-touring resto-mod movement is not without merit. Check the bottom of this Fairlane and you'll find solid, Satin Black floors that frame an impressive array of world class upgrades. Behind the 427, a dressed Ford AOD SS Monster 4-speed spins a custom driveshaft. That transmission twists power to a proven Currie 9-inch, which packs 3.70 gears and a Truetrac differential between 31-spline axles. That familiar pumpkin pushes a thoughtfully upgraded suspension, which cages Borgeson power steering in an adjustable Chassisworks front-clip. Braking is equally class, with vivid Baer calipers squeezing 12 and 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases in to custom pipes, which center an x-shaped crossover in front of rowdy Flowmaster mufflers. And everything rolls on chromed American Racing Daytonas, which lap 225/45ZR17 Continental ExtremeContacts in front of 235/50ZR17 Continental ExtremeContacts.
CONSERVATIVE CUSTOMIZATION
Given the broad aftermarket support enjoyed by Ford, it's relatively easy to build a serious performer. But most builds fail to refine that muscle into something that's livable on an everyday basis. After all, what fun is winning at the show if the ride there and back is almost insufferable? Well, refinement, and specifically interior refinement, is one of this Fairlane's many virtues thanks to Horseheads, New York's RP Interiors. The car's customized cockpit kicks off with clean leather seats. A leather-wrapped dash hangs conservative factory telemetry over leather-wrapped kick panels and tasteful Stewart Warner accessory gauges. In front of the driver, a polished steering wheel laps an 8,000 RPM Stewart Warner tachometer. And hidden Custom Autosound audio adds a touch of modern technology.
Very few classics possess the thrill-inducing swagger of this incredible Fairlane. But you're looking at a fast, purpose-built head-turner, and, make NO mistake, when your foot hits the floor that's exactly what you'll get! Call, click or visit https://www.RKMotors.com for more information!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
