Ford Mustang 392 V8 1968

General description : 1968 Ford Mustang BULLITT Tribute This year marks the 50th anniversary for the 68 Mustang and one of the most iconic chase scenes in movie history.  Steve McQueen drove the Bullitt Mustang through the streets of San Francisco in what would become one the most influential chase scenes ever created.  The original Bullitt car had been lost for many years and only reappeared earlier this year.  The car has definitely aged some with faded paint, rusted bumpers, but man it sure is cool.  In 2007 the 68 Mustang you see here was transformed into a Bullitt tribute car and every movie buff that sees it instantly points that out.  The car is absolutely beautiful and runs extremely well.  It started life as a 68 J code 302 car with a 4 speed manual transmission.  It was originally sold in Canada and was ordered with the Convenience Control Panel, Visibility Group, sport deck rear seat, console, power disc brakes, power steering, Interior Decor Group, Deluxe Belts, Front Seat Headrests, Chrome Styled Steel Wheels and Heavy Duty Suspension.  It was fully frame off restored and during the process turned into the very cool Bullitt tribute you see today.  $25,000 was spent on the paint and body work alone.  The car was entirely rust free back then and still remains that way today.  The Ford Highland Green is absolutely beautiful and flawless.  During the resto all of the trim and chrome was replaced with new and the car has been extremely well cared for since so they still look that way.  There really isn't a weak area of the car or anything it needs.  It rides on the correct style Blacked out American Racing wheels and has an awesome stance.  Check out the list below to get a complete breakdown of the mechanical specifications. - Ford Racing 392 CI Crate Motor, 430 HP/450 TQ, 9.7:1 Compression - Tremec T-5 5-Speed Manual with Hurst Shifter - Modern Driveline Cable Clutch - Barry Grant Street Demon 800 CFM Carburetor - RPM Airgap Intake Manifold - MSD Ignition - 4-Core Aluminum Radiator - Serpentine Belt Driven - Hooker Headers - Bill Meir Subframe Connectors & Roll Bar - Koni Shocks - Haneline Instrument Cluster - Currie 9" Differential with 3.55 Gears     In addition the car just get a new clutch, pressure plate and flywheel.  One thing every Bullitt fan always points out are the custom JZZ109 plates.  They typically think they are the exact from the movie but they are actually 1 letter off.  They are not on the car currently but are 100% legal and could be registered to the car.  The interior of the car has a combination of stock components and aftermarket components.  A humphugger center console sits between the seats and an AM/FM/CD player added to the dash.  It also has white faced gauges mounted in a brushed aluminum bezel and a Lecarra steering wheel.  The trunk of the car has the original style mat and the batter has been relocated to the right side of the trunk.       This car is absolutely gorgeous and runs extremely well.  We have been lucky enough to drive quite a few of these Mustangs over the years and this one is one of the best drivers we have had the pleasure sitting behind the wheel of.  Don't let the recent find of the real movie car make you think this was just a car slapped together to follow the hype of that find.  This car was meticulously built and after completed was the closest you could come to the Bullitt car.  Even with that car found this one is definitely of a nicer quality.   Add this unique car to your collection for $77,750.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
