General description :
After winning Le Mans 24h in 1959, Caroll Shelby established Shelby American and became well known for his Cobra’s equipped with Ford engines. As well he became manager of the GT40 project and delivered Ford multiple victories at Le Mans 24h. Therefore Carroll had a privileged position at Ford an transformed their pony-cars into purebred race horses to compete with Corvette in the SCCA-racing programme. Soon the ‘Mustang Shelby’ was a big succes and a production model followed in 1965. The Shelby GT350 was born! As the GT350 wasn’t monstrous enough, a GT500 followed in 1967, equipped with the cast-iron Interceptor 428-engine. Besides the gigantic power, this Shelby offered more luxury and refining than the GT350. Under the hood lays a 335hp roaring V8 with dual four barrel carburetors. On top of that this car was equipped: Ford Toploader four-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with unequal-length control arms, coil springs, and anti-roll bar, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and front disc and rear drum hydraulic brakes. This rubber-burning monster represents to the present day the ‘American muscle car’.
This offered original red-white GT500 from 1968 finds itself in excellent condition, both above and below as inside and outside. This example is equipped with the selected-shift automatic transmission that emphasizes the luxury, but the sporty aspect is certainly not missing either. With this car comes a brand new, invoice icluded, white convertible top. On top of that this car was signed by mr. Shelby himself at the dashboard.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
