In februari 1966 komt Glas met een prototype V8 met een 2982 cc motor (letterlijk een verdubbelde versie van de 1489 cc-eenheid die in sommige versies van het bedrijf's Glas GT zat). Deze versie heeft een maximale vermogen van 118 kW (160 PS) waardoor het volgens sommige bronnen slaagde om 200 km / h (126 mph) te kunnen rijden. In een test van 1967 door Auto Motor und Sport werd slechts 193,3 km / h bereikt. In 1966 werd ook een versie van 3,2 liter geïnstalleerd die een maximale vermogen van 129 kW (175 PS) leverde, maar 1966 was het jaar toen de onzekere financiën van de onderneming een crisis veroorzaken die in september 1966 resulteerde in een overname door BMW . Nadat BMW in augustus 1967 de productie van de Glass 2600 V8 had beëindigd, was de drie-liter versie nog vrijwel ongewijzigd. 17 exemplaren werden nog steeds verkocht als "Glas 3000 V8", waarna BMW-logo's op de auto's werden geplaatst en het de BMW Glas 3000 V8-model heette.
