1965 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe (RHD)

Finished in special order Opalescent Dark Blue coachwork with Grey hide and matching Grey carpets and correct wool headlining fitted. Gleaming chrome wire wheels with two ear spinners which enhance the appearance, Grey seat belts trimmed to match the main hide in classic webbing and chrome fittings give the car an air of sophistication and added safety.

Supplied new via agents C.H. Truman who were the official distributer for Nottinghamshire, this car was first registered 12th February 1965 and issued the registration DAU 767C – fast forward 57 years and this registration is still applied to the car, a collectors dream to see.

The execution of the restoration works carried out have been to the very highest standard of quality and exceeds the standard of work carried out by Jaguar Heritage – this is the benchmark of how good DAU 767C is. The final attention to detail during a restoration in our view is where 40 percent of the time is absorbed. MM perfect fitment of the gaps and crucially, getting the doors to open and close with ease is a masterful art to get right on an E-Type.

The paint work inside the engine bay is immaculate running from the bulk head, space frame and inside the bonnet is as good as the finish to the exterior of the car. Mechanically, everything is in extremely good order is correct to period specification with the exception of the fitment of GAS dampers, a modern 12volt alternator and full stainless steel exhaust running to the ceramic coated manifold – proper!

Being one of the later of the Series 1, these cars in our view are the real drivers choice, benefiting from the highly capable 4.2 litre engine which was kept in circulation by The Jaguar Car Company until the late 90’s. Another revolutionary introduction was the fitment of the Jaguar all synchromesh 4-speed gearbox. An ergonomically redesigned cockpit, slightly wider and significantly more comfortable on long jaunt’s make these late cars effortless to drive and even by todays standard a very capable outside lane car.

On file we have a wealth of invoices spanning the ages plus details of the restoration works.
