Jeep CJ7 360 V8 1985

General description : SHOW-STOPPER PRO RESTO, WARRANTY 360 V8 CRATE, FUEL INJ., AUTO, PS/PB/ R134A AC

Look through our inventory and you will see a lot of Jeeps, but this 1985 CJ7 Laredo might just be the nicest one we've ever featured, and that's not faint praise. With a spectacular fresh paint job, it looks amazing and thanks to a stout 360 cubic inch V8 crate motor with a warranty, it has performance that'll definitely deliver the shock and awe.
The bottom line is that someone took a really nice original Jeep and gave it a show-quality restoration. No AMC product ever fit together this well or had paint that was this deep and glossy, and any part that didn't measure up to the owner's admittedly high standards, well, it got tossed and a brand new item was installed in its place. The bodywork has had hundreds of hours poured into its final finish and thanks to a recent color sand and buff, the shine is so deep that it looks at home with far more expensive vehicles. Proper Laredo decals and stripes were reinstalled, along with new color-matched fender flares, a chrome grille surround, new LED lighting, and, of course, those cool asymmetrical side mirrors that only look right on a Jeep. There's also a custom set of chrome bumpers that add to the Jeep's compact, sporty look, and a set of side steps makes climbing in easier with the lifted suspension. It's hard to convey with just words and photos how nice this Jeep is, but when you see it in person, you'll understand.
The interior also received a major makeover, complete with fresh Corbeau bucket seats, a functional I-Vault locking center console, and a new dash pad. The floor is covered in color-matched spray-in bedliner material that's durable as well as attractive and highlights the functional appeal of the Jeep. All the gauges are new, framed by a shiny chrome instrument panel and controls with reproduction knobs and you'll note that these are aftermarket gauges that look stock; check out the built-in tach! The plain 3-spoke steering wheel is fitted to a tilt steering column and there's a digital AM/FM stereo radio in the original slot with weatherproof Rockford Fosgate speakers on the rear fender wells. This Jeep even has ice cold A/C skillfully integrated into the dash. And yes, don't worry, a full canvas top and matching doors are included, so you don't need to worry about the weather spoiling your fun.
Most of these had inline-sixes, but during the build, this one received a stout 360 cubic inch AMC crate motor that makes performance entertaining to say the least. The engine carries a 7-year/100,000 mile transferable warranty, and with only 733 miles on the build, it'll take you a long time to get there. Upgrades include FI Tech fuel injection, an HEI ignition system, painless wiring, an aluminum radiator with electric fan, and long-tube headers ending in butch-sounding side pipes just ahead of the rear wheels. Everywhere you look there's evidence of expert workmanship and thoughtful upgrades, and absolutely everything is new. The frame was sandblasted and powdercoated for durability and the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission should probably last forever. The front axle is a Dana 30 while there's a heavy-duty Dana 44 out back, with a Dana 300 transfer case. The suspension is fitted with a Skyjacker 4-inch that sits on shiny 15-inch Pro Comp wheels with 53x12.50-15 BFGoodrich off-road radials.
In essence, this Jeep is brand new in just about every way, with beautiful cosmetics and a very strong-running powertrain. They just don't come much better than this. Call today!

About Jeep
The history of Jeep is a tale of rugged innovation and an iconic journey from its roots as a military workhorse to its various civilian versions, including American competitors to the Range Rover.

The Birth of the Jeep:
The Jeep story began during World War II when the U.S. Army put out a call for a small, versatile, four-wheel-drive vehicle. Several American automakers responded, but the Willys-Overland company, along with its partner Ford, ultimately won the contract. The result was the Willys MB, an agile and tough vehicle that quickly earned the nickname "Jeep." The name's origin is a subject of some debate, but it's believed to have been derived from the military phonetic alphabet's "GP" designation, which stood for "General Purpose" or "Government Purpose."

World War II Service:
Jeeps became the backbone of the American military, serving in various roles from reconnaissance to medical transport. Their durability, four-wheel-drive capability, and ease of maintenance made them invaluable during the war. They were used in all theaters of the conflict and left an indelible mark on military history.

Post-War Transition:
After World War II, many surplus military Jeeps found their way into civilian hands, and their utility became evident beyond the battlefield. Recognizing this potential, Willys-Overland began producing the CJ (Civilian Jeep) series, starting with the CJ-2A in 1945. These early civilian Jeeps retained their military roots but were adapted for farm, ranch, and off-road use. They soon gained popularity among outdoor enthusiasts and those in need of a rugged, capable vehicle.

The Jeep Brand Expands:
Over the decades, the Jeep brand continued to evolve, introducing a wide range of models to cater to different consumer needs. The Jeep Wagoneer, introduced in 1963, was one of the earliest luxury SUVs and a competitor to the Range Rover, offering four-wheel drive and a comfortable ride.

The Jeep Cherokee, introduced in 1974, was a pioneering compact SUV that combined off-road capability with on-road comfort. Its success laid the foundation for the modern SUV segment.

In 1984, Jeep introduced the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which further advanced the brand's presence in the luxury SUV market. The Grand Cherokee was designed to deliver a refined driving experience without sacrificing its off-road prowess.

Jeep Wrangler, which evolved from the CJ series, has remained a steadfast symbol of off-road capability and rugged adventure. The Wrangler has garnered a devoted following of enthusiasts who appreciate its simplicity and go-anywhere attitude.

Jeep Renegade, Jeep Compass, and Jeep Gladiator are examples of modern Jeep models that cater to a wide range of consumer preferences and market segments.

American Competitors to the Range Rover:
While Jeep has produced various models to compete in the luxury SUV market, including the Grand Cherokee, they have also faced competition from American automakers like Cadillac and Lincoln, which have introduced their own luxury SUVs to compete with the Range Rover. These vehicles offer a blend of comfort, technology, and off-road capability, making them alternatives to the Range Rover for American consumers.

In conclusion, the history of Jeep is a story of adaptability and innovation, with the brand transitioning from its military origins to become a symbol of rugged individualism and adventure. Jeep's ability to blend off-road capability with on-road comfort has made it a respected and iconic American brand in the world of 4x4 vehicles.
