Lincoln Continental 5.0L V8 1981

General description : For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a low mile 1981 Lincoln MKVI. This Bill Blass Edition has covered an original 25,788 miles and is on its second owner. This is "the little old lady car to church on Sundays." The condition of this low mileage gem is near new and drives like it too. It’s obvious that this one has been garaged and stored in the winter away from any winter roads. Equipment is plentiful as it should for a Lincoln. Power seats, Power windows with power smoker's vent window, Power locks, Cruise control, Tilt steering wheel and leather. Power comes from an exceptionally smooth 302 V8 and shifts through an automatic transmission. The Designer Series such as the Bill Blass Edition demanded a premium and was one of the most expensive cars built in America. The Bill Blass Edition was accompanied by three more Designer Series; The Cartier Designer Series, The Givenchy Designer Series and the Pucci Designer Series. They all came with their own color scheme and sold well. This new series began in 1980 and came to an end in 1983. The smaller Lincoln equipped with the fuel injected 302, was Lincoln’s answer to the gas crisis. A light weight with a smaller appetite was just what the doctor ordered. The outgoing heavy MK V was far heavier and equipped with a 460 or a 351 V8 making for a gas tank that you couldn’t keep full. This was a short run when compared to other Lincolns, making for fewer collectible examples on today’s market. This may be the best one available. Don’t miss out! About Lincoln
Lincoln, often regarded as more than just an upmarket Ford, has carved its own niche in the automotive world with a rich history and a lineup of distinctive models. Let's take a stroll down the memory lane of Lincoln's story.

Early Beginnings:

Founded in 1917 by Henry Leland, the man behind the Cadillac brand, Lincoln initially started as a luxury automobile company. The brand quickly gained a reputation for its quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The Ford Era:

In 1922, Lincoln was acquired by the Ford Motor Company, and this marked the beginning of a long association. Ford aimed to position Lincoln as its luxury division, competing with other prestigious brands in the market.

Classic Models:

Over the years, Lincoln introduced several iconic models that left a lasting impact on the automotive landscape:

Lincoln Continental: Launched in the 1940s, the Continental became an instant classic. Its elegant design and iconic suicide doors made it a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
Lincoln Town Car: Introduced in the 1980s, the Town Car became synonymous with chauffeur-driven luxury. Its spacious interior and smooth ride made it a favorite among executives and dignitaries.
Lincoln Navigator: The late '90s saw the rise of the SUV craze, and Lincoln was quick to respond with the Navigator. A full-size luxury SUV, the Navigator combined opulence with utility and became a popular choice among affluent families.
