Lotus Seven 4 CYL 1962

General description : The Lotus 7 is an iconic car that perfectly embodies the Lotus philosophy. Mechanically simple but innovative, and extremely lightweight, the car is tremendously fun and is both street legal and well-suited to track use. The classic blend of good looks, entertaining driving characteristics, and simplicity means that these cars are often replicated, even today, despite having stopped production in 1972. This particular car is a genuine 1962 Series II 7a, with a known history from the 1970s. This beautiful Lotus was purchase by Dennis Wood in 1982 from Gerry Kane. Gerry purchased the Lotus from a pilot who flew the car to Southern California from Canada. Gerry conducted a full restoration of the Lotus. Dennis vintage raced the Lotus from 1983 to 1992 with much success and many wins. Dennis restored the Lotus to its current condition starting in 2000 and finishing in 2013. The Lotus still retains the Original Factory Roll Bar, Woodrim Steering Wheel, and Factory Wobble Magnesium Wheels. It truly is unique to retain these original features. The new upholstered red and white piping interior was made to look period correct. The 1380cc BMC race engine was built by David Evans of EvanSpeed Chassis Dyno Service. Additional feature s are, Spax shocks, Coastfab lightweight stainless steel muffler, Stack Tack, Rev Limiter, original TR10 rear end housing with 3:85 Spitfire gears with Detroit Locker, Ribcage Gearbox, 12v Lightweight racing battery, original top, top bows, tonneau cover, shop/owners manual, and other miscellaneous parts. The car is set up for track/street use. The car is in excellent condition, displaying superb attention to detail and workmanship. The paintwork was done to high standards. The chassis and suspension are well-detailed and nearly spotless. The interior is nicely restored in a period manner, with leather seat pads and dashboard, as well as correct Smiths gauges. The engine compartment is very impressive, showing high levels of preparation. Routing of oil lines hoses and wiring is tidy and professional, and components are top notch, from the Weber carburetor to Aeroquip fittings and stainless steel lines. This is a genuine Lotus 7A that has been restored and is track/street ready. With few owners and known history back to the 1970s. It comes with a binder containing photo documentation of the car before and during the restoration, as well as invoices.
