Mercedes-Benz 190SL Fully restored example, Matching Numbers 1959

General description : The Mercedes-Benz W121 190SL is the legendary 300SL Roadster’s little brother. We have a fully restored and overhauled example. The car was newly supplied in 1959 with its special finish of “Zemantgrau”. After initially being supplied from new to Virginia in the States it came over to Europe in 2004. Although solid it was due to be fully restored. And the restoration was indeed full. The car received the full ‘nut & bolt” treatment. The 190SL was stripped down to its component parts. The bodywork was taken back to bare metal and repaired where needed before being re-sprayed flawlessly in its original colour. The interior was also completely reupholstered. The photo series shows us the extreme care exercised when matching the leather used to the car’s original leather. Both the car’s interior and exterior are pristine. Many new parts were used when putting the car back together. The excellent mechanical condition was afforded as much attention. She still has the original, matching numbers, engine. The 1.9 litre engine develops 105 Ps giving the 190SL a top of 173 km/hr. The engine is coupled to a manual 4-speed gearbox. Both clutch and gearbox use is smooth and in good working oder. As far as the mechanics go, many new parts were fitted during the reconstruction such as new suspension bushes, an overhauled diff and new brakes. This new gear has certainly enhanced the car’s drivability. The car has lovely roadholding properties and sticks to the road perfectly. Considering her age this 190SL shows a remarkable modern driving character. The car comes with an extensive restoration photo album and lots documentation such as the matching numbers certificate, many invoices and parts lists.
