Chassis Number: E11304210011095
Registration Number: TBC
Offered here for sale by Vintage & Prestige Fine Motor Cars is this charming 1965 Mercedes Benz 230 SL. Finished in a very well presented White exterior, with yellow leather interior, this 230 SL can be considered an unofficial 280 SL, as the old 150hp 2.3L straight-six engine was replaced with a newer 170hp 2.8L straight-six taken from the faster and more expensive 280 SL!
Coming with both the removable hardtop and soft top, this 230 SL was sold new to the USA, and partially restored over there in 1998. Accompanying the documents are photographs and several invoices from said restoration. In late 2016, the car made its way over to Slovakia, from where it comes to us today.
The car drives very nicely, with the 2.8L engine producing a wonderfully rorty howl at high revs, synonymous with high-end sports cars of this era!
As can be seen from the photographs, the interior is in good order, as a result of the 1998 restoration, and all four tyres are brand new.
This Mercedes Benz 230 SL is available for viewing at our showroom, and is currently undergoing UK registration.
The Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda, designed by French automobile designer Paul Bracq, is a classic luxury sports car produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1963 to 1971.
The 230SL Pagoda was named after its distinctive hardtop, which featured a concave shape that resembled the roof of a pagoda. The car was powered by a 2.3-liter inline-six engine that produced 150 horsepower and was paired with a four-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The Pagoda was known for its advanced engineering and innovative design features, such as its sleek and aerodynamic body, independent suspension system, and advanced safety features. It was also equipped with a range of high-end features, such as power steering, air conditioning, and leather upholstery.
Paul Bracq's design for the Pagoda was highly influential and is still considered a classic example of mid-century modern design
