General description :
This fine Mercedes Benz 230SL Pagoda was supplied from new in Garden Grove, California o the 30th April 1965. Over 15 years ago this Pagoda was exported to a Mercedes enthusiast in the Netherlands. This Pagoda has been excellently maintained over the years. Many invoices are available as well as a complete car wallet containing the original service and owners booklets. It was fully restored in the past. The bodywork is currently still perfectly sound. The body panels are straight and well fitted. The treated underbody is rust-free and sound. The paintwork is good but not perfect. It has the original ‘Weiss 050’ finish with a particularly fine red leather interior trim. Some time ago this interior was fully re-upholstered and is certainly very neat. It has the added benefit of a windbreaker. In short the new owner of this Pagoda will certainly enjoy a superb drive this summer! Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975! The Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda, designed by French automobile designer Paul Bracq, is a classic luxury sports car produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1963 to 1971.
The 230SL Pagoda was named after its distinctive hardtop, which featured a concave shape that resembled the roof of a pagoda. The car was powered by a 2.3-liter inline-six engine that produced 150 horsepower and was paired with a four-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The Pagoda was known for its advanced engineering and innovative design features, such as its sleek and aerodynamic body, independent suspension system, and advanced safety features. It was also equipped with a range of high-end features, such as power steering, air conditioning, and leather upholstery.
Paul Bracq's design for the Pagoda was highly influential and is still considered a classic example of mid-century modern design
