Yul Brynner, eigentlich Juli Borissowitsch Briner, war ein war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler russisch-mongolisch-schweizerischer Herkunft. In den 1950er Jahren zählte der kahlköpfige Darsteller zu den beliebtesten Hollywood-Stars. Er hatte das Bürgerrecht der schweizerischen Gemeinde Möriken-Wildegg, Aargau, lebte aber an verschiedenen Orten in der ganzen Welt. Wir freuen uns Ihnen hier als besondere Rarität eines der begehrten Mercedes 300SE Cabriolets aus 1963 präsentieren zu können. Nach der Überlieferung und Schriftstücken zu entnehmen, bestellte Yul Brynner dieses elegante Cabriolet auf dem Genfer Automobilsalon und fuhr es in den folgenden Jahren in den USA. Es war das 23. gebaute 300SE Cabriolet dieser so exklusiven Serie. Mitte der 1970er Jahre verkaufte die Gesellschaft von Yul Bynner das elegante Cabrio an den in Kalifornien lebenden Harvey Wilson. Er behielt den Wagen für die nächsten etwa 40 Jahre, bis wir den Wagen von Ihn kauften. Der außergewöhnlich gute Originalzustand des Wagens ließ uns lange mit dem Gedanken einer vollständigen Restaurierung hadern. Zuletzt entschlossen wir uns jedoch zu einer umfangreichen Überarbeitung des eleganten Cabriolets. So wurde der Wagen komplett zerlegt bis auf die Rohkarosse und auf die Richtbank gesetzt. Die alte Lackierung wurde entfernt und ein neuer Lackaufbau vorgenommen. Die Karosserie wurde neu aufgebaut, Passungen angeglichen und Kanten gerichtet. Die Technik wurde umfangreich überholt. Die Lederausstattung auf hohem Niveau erneuert. Nun steht der Wagen sicher wieder in einem Zustand da, wie er einst auf dem Genfer Automobilsalon Yul Brynner präsentiert wurde. Komfortable Luftfederung, elegantes Edelholz, wertvolle dunkelgrüne Lederpolster, das damals so beliebte Becker Radio und ein angenehm schaltendes Automatik-Getriebe dokumentieren eindrucksvoll den erhältlichen Luxus, für die vermögenden Käufer eines Produktes aus dem Hause Mercedes-Benz, in den Nachkriegsjahren.
