Mit dem Baujahr 1959 (Modelljahr 1960) führte Porsche die dritte Serie des Typ 356 als „B“ ein. Zusätzlich werden neben den Roadster- Cabriolet-Coupé-Varianten ein bei Karmann in Osnabrück gebautes Modell mit fest verschweißtem Hardtop gebaut.
Der Grund für diese Modellpolitik lag in der erhöhten Nachfrage nach Coupés. Es lag also auf der Hand, ein bei Karmann gebautes Cabriolet einfach mit dem Hardtop zu verschweißen. In den späteren Jahren wurden mehr und mehr verschweißte Hardtops wieder zu Cabriolets zurückgebaut, weshalb Insider schätzen, dass es heute vielleicht nur noch rund 50 Einheiten dieses besonderen Hardtop Coupés gibt.
Ein solch rares Modell sollte also in keiner hochwertigen Porschesammlung fehlen.
Zudem zeichnet sich dieses Modell dadurch aus, dass es in sehr gutem und sehr originalem Zustand erhalten ist. Die Farbkombination entspricht der Auslieferung. Das gleiche gilt für den Motor-Typ 616/1. Das entsprechende Zertifikat von Porsche liegt vor. Die Historie ist seit 1980 lückenlos belegt.
