Porsche 356 1600 SC 616/16 Reutter coupe sunroof, European car, matching numbers and colour 1964

General description : We have a 1963 Porsche 356 1600 SC Reutter Coupe. Initially supplied to Porsche Salzburg, Austria on the 18th November 1963 and first registered on the 28th February 1964. In the past this car was restored back to factory spec and condition. The bodywork is in extraordinary fine, it is straight with perfect fitted body panels. The underbody is as good new and, of course, completely rust-free. The car has a couple of factory-fitted extras such a ventilated chrome rims, one wing mirror and a very find on the SC; an electric sunroof! Finished in the original ‘Rubinrot 6402B’ ruby red with a black leather trim. Mechanically the car is very sound and in excellent working order. This very rare and sought after SC version has the originally fitted push rod and most powerful Porsche 1600 SC 616/16 engine producing 95 Hp. The, no longer re-orderable Factory Kardex verifies the engine and gearbox matching numbers. The 356 SC was the last version update of the 356 series and, at the time, the very best. The SC has disc brakes all around, a sturdier stabiliser rod, updated hubs and various adjustments to the steering house and column. The gearbox synchronisation was also very much improved in comparison to the 356 B series. The 356 SC was therefore the very best, fastest and most developed 356 version. An original European supplied, matching numbers SC with an electric sunroof. Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975! About Porsche 356
The Porsche 356 is an iconic sports car that was produced from 1948 to 1965. It is considered to be the first production car to bear the Porsche name and is known for its unique design and exceptional performance.

The 356 was initially designed by Ferdinand Porsche in the late 1940s as a lightweight and nimble sports car that could be used for racing. The first prototypes were built using Volkswagen components, as Porsche was still closely associated with the German automaker at the time. However, the final design of the 356 was a significant departure from the VW Beetle, and featured a sleek, aerodynamic body that was both beautiful and functional.

Over the years, the 356 evolved through several iterations, each of which added new features and improved performance. The early models were powered by a 1.1-liter flat-four engine that produced around 40 horsepower, while later models featured larger engines with up to 130 horsepower.

Despite its humble beginnings, the Porsche 356 quickly became a favorite among driving enthusiasts, both on the road and the racetrack. Its combination of style, performance, and handling made it a true sports car icon, and it helped to establish Porsche as one of the world's leading automakers. Today, the 356 remains a highly sought-after collector's car, with prices that can range from tens of thousands to millions of dollars, depending on the model and condition.
