Ein Speedster ist ein offenes Auto, das man mit geschlossenem Dach fahren kann - so treffend definierte Porsche den Speedster. 1987 wurde auf der IAA in Frankfurt die Studie des Speedsters vorgestellt um das Käuferinteresse an einem, auf das wesentlich reduzierte, Porsche 911 Speedster zu testen. Nachdem der Wagen begeistert aufgenommen wurde, ging er als Erbe des berühmten Porsche 356 Speedsters in Produktion und wurde erst 1989 ausgeliefert. Nachdem der damalige Vorstandschef Peter Schutz den Porsche 911 „gerettet“ hatte und durch umfangreiche Modellpflege zukunftsfähig gemacht hat, krönte er die Baureihe 1989 mit dem Speedster. Einem Porsche 911 in seiner extremsten Karosserieform. Der Wagen hatte eine deutlich flachere Windschutzscheibe, ein Notverdeck unter einer großflächigen Abdeckung und basierte in der Regel auf der deutlich breiteren Karosserie des Turbos, was ihm ein äußerst muskulöses Erscheinungsbild gab. Insgesamt wurden nur 1943 Porsche Speedster im breiten Turbolook gebaut. Hinzu kamen noch einmal 161 Stück mit der schmalen Karosserie. Unser Speedster stammt aus einer ital.
