Exterior

The Arctic Silver paintwork looks great throughout with only a handful of minor defects to evidence the mileage. The car is overall very sharp with little more than a few small pin dents, chips, and one very light graze on the offside rear arch to report; being really picky one of the small body-coloured roof trims is cracked but this is purely cosmetic. Looking closer all the seals remain in fine order, the paint retains a great shine, and there are no off-colour panels. The electric glass roof panel operates exactly as it should and the car is lifted further with the desirable 17-inch split rim option; all four wheels have just been fully stripped and professionally refurbished to a very high standard.

Interior

Open the door and you’re greeted by a very smart black interior. The seats present in remarkably good original condition; the leather is still perfectly soft and supple to the touch and the electronic adjustments all work as they should. The complementing black carpets are also in great shape, the only negative here being some expected wear to the original driver’s overmat. The Tiptronic gear selector shows few signs of use and the steering wheel retains a nice grain to the leather. The switchgear is unmarked and still feels reassuringly solid to operate, with great features such as the electric glass roof and sun blind in perfect working order. Some nice factory options include air conditioning and the HiFi sound system.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The engine bay is in excellent condition with no damage or signs of previous poor repair. The 3.6-litre flat six looks as good as ever, fires up first turn of the key, and idles smoothly up to temperature. Being a later 993 this one is further equipped with Porsche’s Varioram induction system giving vastly improved low to mid-range torque over pre-1996 examples. The last major service, which also included a gearbox service, was completed in August 2021 less than 250 miles ago.

History File

This smart Tiptronic 993 Targa was first registered in March 1997. It has now driven 107k miles in the hands of only 3 registered keepers. The current owner purchased the car 23 years ago with only 27k miles on the clock. He has used and enjoyed it ever since although in more recent years it has driven relatively few miles. Following on from some time in storage the car was treated to a major service (including gearbox) in August 2021 at 107,290 miles.

About Porsche 911 / 993
The Porsche 993 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 models produced between 1994 and 1998. It was the successor to the Porsche 964 and was the last of the air-cooled 911s.

One of the most significant changes in the 993 was the introduction of a redesigned body that featured smoother curves and a more aerodynamic shape. The 993 was also the first Porsche 911 to feature an all-aluminum subframe and a multilink rear suspension, which helped to improve handling and ride quality.

The 993 was powered by a range of engines, including a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated flat-six and a 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six. The top-of-the-line 993 Turbo S was capable of producing 450 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful production cars of its time.

Today, the Porsche 993 is considered a classic sports car and is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. Its combination of classic styling, modern features, and high performance capabilities make it a true icon of the Porsche brand.

As a hobbyist car, the Porsche 993 is popular among collectors and enthusiasts who enjoy working on and restoring classic cars. While the 993 is more complex than some of the earlier air-cooled Porsches, it still offers a relatively simple design and mechanics compared to modern cars. This makes it a good choice for those who are interested in learning about automotive restoration and maintenance.

Overall, the Porsche 993 is an important part of Porsche's history and remains a beloved car among automotive enthusiasts around the world. Its classic design, advanced features, and high performance capabilities make it a true masterpiece of automotive engineering.
