Porsche 912 1966

General description : We have a found a really great 1966 Porsche 912 for you. This blue model has already been restored once and has remained in very good condition since. The fine bodywork has nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. The neat paintwork only has a few minor blemishes. Both the brightwork and the iconic Fuchs rims are in good shape. It is as tasteful on the inside of the car as out. The seats and rear bench are clad in light brown vinyl with blue carpets. The interior trim is in very good condition and forms a brilliant contrast against the blue exterior. There is a special story attached to this Porsche's 912 engine. At some stage in the past this Porsche's engine was swapped for a 1.5 litre Volkswagen type 3 unit. The standard Porsche 912 engine develops 90 Ps. It is claimed that this unit also develops an output of about 90 Ps and when driving the car there is no reason to doubt this. The engine makes light work of the 942 kg weighing 912. The latter is not so very strange once we have a closer look at the engine. Every Porsche connoisseur knows that the Porsche 912 used whatever Volkswagen technology happened to be available. Selecting a 1.5 litre Volkswagen plant is therefore not so strange as it may seem on first impression. The practically identical output has been reached by completely rebuilding the unit with a higher compression ratio and the use of two twin Weber carburettors. To top it all the carburettors were also fitted with open air filters. It wont come as any surprise that this Porsche 912 is an utter joy to take out. The engine responds fantastically to the accelerator pedal, only getting better as the revs climb higher. The car is just one and all driving experience, with the chassis, brakes and transmission also contributing in no small way. Every component works in perfect harmony to give you a wonderful functioning Porsche 912. It shows that the previous owner took. particular care of this car. Everything feels nice and solid with nothing requiring attention. To be honest, this Porsche 912 is actually nicer than a completely original version. In short we have a fantastic working Porsche 912 in a fetching livery with magnificent maintenance. Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975! About Porsche 912
The Porsche 912 was introduced in 1965 as a more affordable option to the 911. It was essentially a 911 with a 4-cylinder engine instead of the 911's 6-cylinder engine. The 912 was designed to appeal to drivers who appreciated the performance and handling of the 911 but were looking for a more affordable option.

Despite the smaller engine, the 912 had many of the same features as the 911, including disc brakes and independent suspension. It was also lighter than the 911, which made it more nimble and agile.

The Porsche 912 quickly gained a following among enthusiasts who appreciated its handling and performance, as well as its more affordable price tag. Today, the 912 is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, and is considered a classic Porsche model. And as the owners know 912 will out handle any 911 of the era.
