Riley 12/6 1934

General description : 1934 Riley 12/4 Kestrel Special.Registration number VL6625Chassis number: 22T1250
Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1934 Riley 12/4 Kestrel Special for sale. Beautifully fabricated, this Riley Special has strong Alfa Romeo styling cues to its rakish open 2 seat bodywork along with those of Zagato.   The Riley 12/4 Kestrel was constructed on a no expense spared basis and presents beautifully in black with a maroon hide interior in perfect condition complementing the maroon wire wheels.  To the rear is a recessed spare wheel.  A useful luggage storage area is found behind the front seats accessed under a hatch on the rear cowl.
Under the bonnet is Riley’s' jewel like 1500cc twin cam, an engine that was well ahead of its time.  It revs freely, produces more power than expected and provides a fair turn of speed when coupled with such light bodywork.  The dash is machine turned aluminum with the usual Riley gauges in the center.  Zeroed after build, the odometer now shows a scant 1,478 miles.
Under the bonnet the Riley 12/4 Kestrel is detailed and tidy.  A Kenlowe fan augments cooling behind the recently restored radiator.  Twin open faced carburetors suck air with a voracious hissing when the Riley 12/4 Kestrel is extended.  Power is deployed via the easy to use pre-select gearbox.
The Riley 12/4 Kestrel comes with a full tonneau cover in black mohair.  The windscreen is of the fold down variety for an authentic "bugs in the teeth" style motoring.  An oversize aluminum filler cap is mounted to the rear.  To sum up this is a delightful period and attractive car in fine order ready for extended use.
